I'm in the wrong line of business....

I wish I could just say, "hey guys, pay me, and I'll find a coach for you." Must be nice.

Except for that's not what they do completely and it seems not many understand that when going through this topic.

These firms are used as middle men.

And what do we know about the others??

The search advisory committee will provide James with input on the process and on candidates. Members of the advisory committee include Board of Trustees members Hilarie Bass, David Epstein and Steve Saiontz; Deputy Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley and former UM standouts Jonathan Vilma and Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde.

Bass is co-chair, Epstein?? I've got nothing, and Saiontz is Millers brother in law :/
What's the story with Jennifer Strawley?? Is this the person that's been alluded to within the Hecht that does not like Butch?

I don't know. This whole search firm and committee business seems really CYA. Doesn't anybody know how to do a job anymore?? Pfft...Blake.

''Doesn't anybody know how to do a job anymore?? Pfft...Blake.''

I agree with you 100%. Forget to send his paycheck and I bet he gets off his ***!

Agree!!!
Is Paul DiMare being elbow out of the decision???

Well maybe since their willing to pay that money for a search committee it means they're willing to spend the money it takes to get a good coach this time around.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami Director of Athletics Blake James announced today the retention of a search firm and the formation of a search advisory committee as the University seeks a new head football coach.

Korn Ferry, one of the world's most respected search firms with vast experience in coaching searches, has been retained and will assist the University in all aspects of the search process.

"We are well underway in our search process," said James, "and, as expected, there is already a tremendous amount of interest in The U. Additionally, we are reaching out to a number of UM constituencies to engage in dialogue and to hear their thoughts and vision. We will work diligently to find a great fit for Miami and I want to thank in advance the members of the advisory committee for their dedication to our University."

Korn Ferry is the firm that put Charlie Strong in Texas!!

That's worked out well! That's hilarious!

I feel so much better.

Didn't know Korn Ferry could hire people at Texas.
I thought the Texas AD hired Charlie Strong.

These firms are used as middle men and consultants. You can't just go and call up a coach and say we want you. These firms allow you to "talk" with candidates without needing permission from their school. They gauge interest, they set up interviews, they bring up some names etc.

It's not just a job where you say, "Here are some coaches that are good, bye." Chances are the main reason Blake went with a firm isn't because he doesn't know any coaches, but because the firm can help sell the school, garner interest, and help communicate with coaches ASAP.

Vilma wants Butch.. That's one positive.

you know what can help sell the school...THE SCHOOL! The reason why we're unattractive is b/c we need to use middle men, now, to help us get people to take a "chance" on us. TF?! All of this firm crap started w/ Shalala....b4 then, I'm pretty sure Miami didn't have a problem getting the attention of coaches.

I guess my Butch Hired thread was nuked ****** Mods

The school doesn't need help selling it's brand. You're jumping to that assumption on your own just because it's something a firm can do. You don't hire a firm because you don't know how to make a hire yourself. You hire a firm so that right now today you are able to talk to Tom Herman or whoever you want without needing permission from his AD. Without the middleman, the firm, you have to get permission which you likely don't get and then you have to wait until the season is over.

This is the same firm that assisted Michigan in getting Harbaugh.

SMH @ two women and Blake James making the call on the new coach

Gonna be another clean cut nice guy beta male like Golden

Smh

What is this firms actual job, come up with names?

I think they are facilitators.
It's easier for them to make contact, gage interest and arrange meetings privately.
They can also present candidates to the school they know are interested.
It's ultimately the university that makes the choice and hires the coach.
