Seantrel Henderson is being treated for Crohn's disease

My wife has it, been on a whole lot of meds for a couple of years, may have to try something different soon. There's worse out there but professional athletes, that's a different animal.

Needs to get in contact with David Gerard. Had a long NFL career while fighting through Crohn's. Best of luck to Seantrel.

Garrard had Ulcerative Colitis not Chrohns. They are both irritable bowel disease but UC is usually not as bad.

They are both types of inflammatory bowel disease, but Crohns can be higher up in the digestive tract. Irritable bowel is something else. Why are we talking about the man's bowels on this board?

There are treatments other than immune suppressants. Anyone reading this - please think long and hard before you take those. Had a best friend taken in 2 weeks with cancer because his system was 'suppressed'.

Edited to add: if it were me, I'd be racing to try this: Fecal Transplant for Crohn's | Home - Home

My wife has had Crohns for 35 years and lost her large intestine 31 years ago so I can tell you it is a bad disease but they have come a long way with medicines such as Humira now available for Crohns. He should with proper treatment be able to continue playing.

I take a Remecade infusion every 8 weeks. I have been in remission for 3 years. Suggest your wife discuss this as an option with her Docs.

Hope it helps

I have UC and my doctor wanted me to take Humira. After reading of the possible side effects, I passed.

Thats your choice but until Humira the only effective medicine she took was prednisone and the long term use of that has been far worse.

Terrible terrible disease. My brother has Crohn's disease. He recently had to get 20ft of his intestines removed and had 8 splints put in his remaining intestines. If he has another major relapse it could be the end of him. Completely sucks. Hope he has a very mild case. Get Better SH!

Naples, sorry about your brother. Prayers are with him. My close friend has crohn's and every place we go the first thing we do is locate a bathroom. I was sorry to hear this about Seantrel.

I am not bleeding. Usually I don't bleed unless I have taken an antibiotic.

I have UC and being in the military, I'm trying to stay away from the Humira. Instead, I treat it with Lialda and another drug I can't pronounce. I haven't had a flare in years, but have the constant bowel movements and urgency.

NO PREDNISONE...softens your bones long term. Short term efects include increased appetite, moodiness and water weight gain. BAD drug
