Tatum spent extended time with Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and head coach Mario Cristobal. He also got a private campus tour after taking in practice and even learned more about the education side of UM. Overall, it was a home run for the Hurricanes.
....
However, a decision could come before the OV. Tatum has a tentative commitment date set for July 18, but he did say a commitment could come sooner if everything feels right.
...
Very quickly, adding Tatum could help with five-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Mark Matthews. The two are friends, spent a lot of time together at the recent Rivals Miami camp and have talked about playing together at the next level. Getting Tatum to shut things down sooner rather than later would give Miami a nice peer recruiter in one of the most important recruitments of the cycle.

@lindend, I have no idea how you keep up with all this, but I sincerely appreciate that you do.
I must say, life was simpler pre-Mario. We had a small # of recruits to monitor and no backup options when they decommitted after finding better landing spots.

Now following Miami recruiting is like drinking from a fire hose.

What season was that where the recruiting board seemed shut down, I literally saw a tumbleweed pass by and asked what was going on.. :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

Ah, the good old days when we'd hype ourselves up about another diamond in the rough 2* from Iowa or upstate New York. We told ourselves "Ed Reed was a 2*" and how we may have stolen a good one.

We were young and naive. She told us she loved us, and how could we say no?
