There's an article posted on ITU about this kid from round the way

http://miami.247sports.com/Board/92...Pay-Off-With-4-Star-DT-Joshua-Nijman-33148973

Had no idea he played football (Cuz Columbia sucks at football). I knew him to be a state champion shot putter. He's got a 60 foot throw on his resume for those of you who are knowledgeable about that sort of thing.

But here are his highlights

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2528577/highlights/109529379

He's EXACTLY the kind of athlete we need on the D-Line

He is incredibly raw but you can tell how athletic he is.

These testing results are from april of 2013 so they might be a little different now.

Looks like we have a really good chance to land him. He's not sold on VTech per that article. Finish strong and he's ours. Would still hope that they can pull a juco impact DT too.

Im a lil skeptical on this one i went to search his name and he only has pictures in vtech gear, I thought that only happened to us?

Yea, he alluded to VTech wanting him at OT and Miami wanting him as a DT as being something in our favor in the 247 article. He doesn't want to play offense.

Interesting prospect at 6'7 250. He seems to do well at creating separation and leverage, even with extreme height and length. He seems like an instant red shirt candidate IMO--or he can play SDE or DT for a year or two before he makes the move to full time NT. I like that we would be getting him a year older. He might be a late bloomer in terms of his body (like Calvin Huertalou). I really can't tell from the tape what his frame looks like. Hopefully it can carry some significant weight gain. I would be pleased with a class that has this dude and Kendrick Norton in it.

He is way to tall to play NT he would lose the leverage battle on every play, if comes to UM he will play SDE or DT to set the edge where he can use his strength an length against Tackles and TE's hold the edge an knock down passes. Since he will be slowwer DE/DT he will have to work hard on improving his FBI which will allow him to better utilize his body, being older will also help a lot if he does redshirt after having attended prep school.

Generally, our SDE's and DT's are never force players (never set edges) in our system. They're usually playing an inside gap (B or C). They're usually two gapping those gaps or exchanging (spilling) in our one gap stuff. Only time you'll see our SDE's or DTs "set the edge" is when we're in a pressure. You might have a SDE or DT stunting into the D gap for a contain rush, or spy/replace. But you're right--he probably wont ever play NT for us. Most NFL NT's are usually in the 6'1 to 6'4 range.

This guy is extremely impressive. We need help at that position and Nijman has the perfect body type for this system.

Close that ***. Always take big athletes. Butch would cream himself over this dude.

Perfect for the Olsen Pierre role. And if we ever get smart and go back to a 4-3 Base he would end up as a penetrating DT.

Paranos' dude Ryslik might be the Nose we need in this class. Between him and Fines, one of 'em has to end up decent, right?

I agree that Nijman and Ryslik would offer UM alot of versatility in the dline that Kevin Patrick will put to good use when he returns to UM next year. Don't forget2015 NT Javier Edwards ( from houston) is still out there without a UM offer yet.
