Just listened to McElroys podcast. He’s close with Mario and it’s interesting that the first thing he talked about was how Miami practiced 30 special teams plays and that kickers got tested from multiple distances and the specialists played well. Basically for a team that came so close last year it’s a priority. He basically said it’s unheard of to have that many special teams plays in a scrimmage.

Also he said that it seems that the offensive line questions seem to be getting resolved. And that by cross training a by product is good preparation for the long run.

The biggest worry is pass blocking tight end. They need to find a solution for the short yardage game. By cross training the lineman that could be a solution. Also mentioned that Damari seems healthy and that can be a big bonus.

Mario said all of that in his post scrimmage interview

@Peter Ariz indicated on his podcast that he could see Miami making a late run for a field goal specialist...

Ben Condgan is turning heads. Sounds like he’s ready to roll.

If pass blocking by the TE is our biggest worry, we're in good shape.

He and Cantwell will definitely take their lumps this year but future is bright!

People hate on him but I have always liked his commentary (relatively speaking)

He loves the U you can tell

People hate on him because we live in the worst time in human recorded history, and it's inherent in 99.9% of people to be true definition haters, and just hate on everything that's more successful than you. It's an epidemic. But for those of us with an IQ above 60, McElroy is a really smart dude with detailed, nuanced analysis, really studies the game and knows the players, and is fair.

I even liked how he did his Top 10 DL list earlier this year and didn't include Miami, and everyone went nuts, and he went back and apologized and said he missed it, he made a mistake, and they should absolutely be included. Most dudes in that space have an ego way too big for that, they'd just ignore it and pretend they didn't see anything.

The dudes that played the game at an elite level are by far the best college football podcasters: McLain, McElroy, Murray, Pollack etc.

Elite at what they do IMO
