SCRIMMAGE 2

I'm all about rosier and think he's the best option this season, but while he played well in the duke game, he didn't win the game for us. Love that game, love the ending, but I wouldn't count that as a feather in his hat either

For obvious reasons people forget how that game went leading up to the return. He led two 4th quarter scoring drives. We were up 12 with 8+ minutes to go. The offense was only on the field for another 3 plays after the FG that put us up 12. Long TD drive for Duke. Coley goes conservative and we go 3 and out. Another long TD drive for Duke, then the return. He did more than enough.

Nice you left out the INT in Q3 and his 13 yard scamper into our endzone late Q3 and grounding giving Duke a safety and lead.
And his 5 carries for -12 yards

Listen. He's done good in camp. But the Duke game is waaaaaayyyyyy overblown

You left out it was his first ever start. We were two score underdogs on the road and he was a QB for a program that was reeling.

The safety made the score 14-12. Miami up. Duke didn't lead until their final TD

5 carries -12 yards

And I think we win 10+ w Rosier

But you're a pillow biting **** burglar

Frustrating to not have a goal line/short yardage option. May turn out to be our Achilles heel...

Put Jon Ford in as Fullback, and have the runner follow him.

Ford's big enough to open a lane a bread truck could drive through.

keep em coming!! Firesite

Actually don't...there is a reason coaches want these scrimmages totally private so our rivals cannot gleam any information about team/formations/plays. Saban/Jimbo/Urban would catch a body if leaks like this ever occurred.

Uh this was shared by Perry and Thomas on their snap chats so if it was private then the coaches would talk to them about it. So I don't know what your talking about leaks for. Anyone who follows them on snapchat can see this lmao.

On the Shirreffs discussion.. most of his highlights look to be clean pocket/no blitz and locks on one receiver (HS film, but still worth noting). Rainbows all day:

Rainbows all day?

What I saw were some really accurate "touch" passes that only the receiver could catch - they arc so the defender between the receiver an QB can't do squat.

Not saying his 4.0 GPA, his 1840 SAT or 32 ACT scores have anything to do with it - but he's a canny QB. I noted he'd not hesitate to take off when necessary, and did well when he did take off.

I also saw some clothesline throws when quickness was necessary and traffic was a bit more congested.

The Sheriff seems to play more analytically, and Rosier seems to play more viscerally.

Both are good characteristics.

Accuracy / smarts is all I care about in college. Arm strength is severely overrated in cfb, especially with the hash marks. Danny Wuerffel had a straight up noodle but threw the most accurate posts, corners and fades you'll ever see. You couldn't of walked up and handed it to the wr.

Touch and smarts go a long ways in the college game.

Peterariz is there any concern with all these soft tissue injuries?

Whats up everybody. Long time lurker here. Big fan of this site, even if I never post.

Quick question for the group: what is the reasoning behind coaches pitting 1s versus 2s so much? Can someone please explain this to me, or at least point me to a thread that already does? Ive heard tons of old school Canes credit the "iron sharpens iron" philosphy of years past at the U, i.e., the idea that playing against the best everyday in practice brought out the best in them. Am I wrong in assuming that they were referring to 1s versus 1s more so than 1s versus 2s?

Thanks in advance! GO CANES!!!

LMFAO at "james coley has as good a track record as an QB coach in the country."

Ponder, Manuel and Kaaya is a pretty f'ing good track record.

Lmao no it's not

Name me 5 OC's with a better three in a row trio. Or 1. Should be easy if the thought makes you laugh right away.

EJ Manuel was a good cfb qb.. but Ponder and Kaaya were average at best with Ponder being the better between the two. Plenty of OCs have had better.

Harley posted on his IG live his long TD catch from Evan. was a dime by Evan. perfect pass, over Young and Redwine....again.

I can't speak to every scrimmage scenario, but as it relates to fall practices, most of the starting lineups are already penciled in, even if coaches don't want to admit it. Usually more interested in how 2nd/3rd team players separate themselves at this point. From starters, they just want to see the meat of the playbook executed smoothly in a live setting. Probably don't want their best players injuring each other just before the dawn of the season either.
