I expect our offense to shred our defense. Our offense has the most experience in college football. I take it as a big deal if our defense stuffs them. And I don't see why anyone would be shocked if our defense improved. We have a proper DL and proper DB coach and Diaz whatever he is now, he has called good defenses here.

That Bama Defense wasn’t elite but very good. Still, they won a championship. Lol. Everyone has bad games and sometimes bad matchups. It happens. But to discredit Defense in any era is silly.

They are going to struggle week 1. Bama D-Line makes good OL look bad. I understand they will give up some sacks and etc but they can't let their DL wreck the game like we did against FSU last year.

Really? That’s what you got from what I wrote?

You can disagree with me on my attempt to balance enthusiasm with reason. I see you tend to fall on the enthusiastic side. I’m okay with that. But to bytch about my doubts is a little ridiculous. There are a lot more important arguments to be had on here.

I’d much rather read that our defense dominated than the reverse this early on. Hopefully the ends produced some sacks against Williams and Scaife because we already know those two are pretty good, so it would show our DEs are capable of playing at a high level.

It happens. I’m not arguing it doesn’t. But notice how Clemson and Bama were both top 5 Defenses in the nation that year and made to the ship. Defense matters, and is needed to make it far. Bama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State are usually in the top 5 and have very good Defense’s. OU and ND are outside looking in because they don’t produce strong Defenses.
