I believe we’ll be better this year . De not as good but a bigger push in the middle for sure which will make the de look better

I think people will be pleasantly surprised with how good our end group will be. Wilson is a 10 sack guy in the sec & i like the depth we have there

Blount and Wilson are both plenty big enough to set the edge. Then we have an extra year of Lightfoot and Scroggins and Pickett.

My biggest concern on the DL is the dropoff after Scott/Moten.

Not to mention the coverage on the back end. Opposing QBs will have to hold the ball longer if we let the boys play more press coverage.

A dropoff after the best DT duo in the nation? That's shocking! Davis, Blount, and Carter are plenty good enough depth for me. Anyone in CFB would kill to have that

Don't be surprised if Keona Davis is getting reps at end too. Ive been seeing him working with JT in a bunch of videos and he has the motor and size to play there.

I’ll be honest I never thought these two would turn out to be potentially the best DT duo in the country. Coming into Miami all I heard is that Scott was soft and got bullied in high school by undersized OL. And then Moten had a problem staying onsides particularly in 2024.

I don't think there are many coaches in America who wouldn't trade their overall DL group for ours. Maybe 1-2? The fact that I'm making that statement after we lost two first-rounders is pretty insane.

Last season we put Bain on an island and used Mesidor and Scott opposite him to set the edge. I think we can play it the same way this year with Thornton and the weaker run defending DE and our best edge setting DE on an island with whichever DT is best against the run. From practice reports I think Thornton will be better than Scott in defense of the run but maybe a bit less consistent defending the pass. Sounds like Thronton will be the nickel on run downs at least, if not full time. I am really intrigued to see how Heatherman uses all of these DBs. We literally don't have enough spots for all the guys we want to play.

You were right they are both big enough, but Wilson did not actually set the edge very much last year at Missouri, which is one of the things he really needs to learn and become good at to get the highest draft spot he can that’s why he’s here with JT

The best DT combo I have ever seen at Miami was Kennedy and Maryland in '89. I think Moten & Scott can and will be at that level of play.
