SCORE PREDICTION --- Canes - A&M

We did exactly what we’ve all come to expect last week and if the trend continues this week I’m gonna have a hard time feeling good about the direction of the program.

I subscribe to the theory that we can do a lot of damage to them by getting up early. It won’t be enough to win, but it will make winning easier.

If I’m Steele, I am 100% employing the table tennis strategy I was taught at a young age: get the ball to their side of the table and let them make losing mistakes. Until you are a master, you let other people over-exert themselves and force errors. Keep the ball in front of you, return every volley, you’ll win more times than you lose. Haynes King is that guy and their OL has been that weak. I would not take a bunch of risks, I’d make them do things they haven’t yet (move the ball reliably and make winning plays) through their two games.

On offense I have very little confidence that we will look much better than them, sans the mistakes. The good news is we may not have to be much better to win.
I'm glad your being realistic about this, and I hope Steele is in position to implement that exact game plan. I'm just not sure he will be.

Jimbo said the reason he went with King is because he knows more of the playbook. One look at our film and he'll realize he doesn't need the entire thing.

Our LB are exploitable because they're slow.
Our D-line has depth and can stop the run, but who do we have on the edge that scares anyone? Mesidor is recovering from injury. Guys like Kelly and Taylor aren't there yet. The most memorable thing about Harvey is that a poster on here took a picture with him and a few others outside the bookstore.
He wants to see Blades and Ivey on the field together. If I saw them I'd run the hurry up until Mario calls timeout. No way I'm letting that combo off the field.

Like I said earlier, Mallory was targeted 4 times last week without catching a pass, but did manage to get called for holding (which was the only time he managed to block the man in front of him). We don't know if Zion is healthy. And I'm concerned about them expecting the predictable Restrepo 3rd down target, and jumping the route.

I'm in the "see it to believe it" camp when it comes to Gattis opening up the playbook. Until proven otherwise, opening it up means **** like jet sweeps, trick plays and more runs between the tackles out of different formations. That'll show em.

Tbh I'm expecting the first two plays to be, in no specific order, a quick out to Restrepo and a run between the tackles.

All this isn't to say we suck, our coaches suck or that we can't win. But we have well known issues. Everybody was predicting 9 & 3 before the season for reason.

This is the kind of game where whoever gets to 25 first should win - The over/under right now is at 45.5.

Their QB situation is not good...

Might sound odd but if they were coming into this 2-0 I’d be more confident. After being embarrassed last week by App St, they will be coming for blood. Their weirdo creepy fans will be raucous, especially after they were embarrassed with their weirdo creepy Friday night pep rally. I hate these goons and Jizzbo. Hopefully we can get this one for franchise (RIP). Will be a close game though.

I’m sticking with what I’ve said from the beginning, baby doll. I am genuinely concerned about TVD/Gattis at this exact moment, under these exact circumstances. Long term they probably figure it out, but this D is the best we will face all year, and we have no elite WR or good enough chemistry to offset their talent advantage. 16 points may be generous.

If it’s any consolation I think we are more likely to blow them out then they are us.
I agree with you.

Miami-13

TVD gets sacked 7 times and throws 3 INT with barely over 200 yards passing. We rush for 72 yards in a complete disaster for this offense. This board will be in total meltdown mode.

I just don't see it with their QB Haynes King - if he's starting for them A&M is in trouble:

If Haynes King plays -
Miami 24
A&M 17

If Max Johnson plays -
A&M 26
Miami 17

their OL is garbage and Max isn't nearly as mobile as Kings... We hit both and win either way
