Schiano

True Cane? Uh, no.

Don't want.

Anyway, Golden will be our coach next year unless Iowa St. lures him away.

I agree that he will most likely be here next year. But unlike with this fan base, he is still respected around the coaching community, so he will have some options (esp. if we win out)

I know many of you don't like this guy. But after reading this he would be my choice to replace Golden if he were to leave after the season.

I was always in the Mark Stoops or Greg Shiano camp, just from a probability of accepting the offer stance.

But this article tells me there is no way he would replace AG if he were fired. Maybe he would be a candidate if AG left on his own, but seems like he and AG are very friendly. And they share a similar background and connection to Paterno. He wouldn't be the guy to replace AG if we pushed AG out, IMO.

Still ... I'm glad to see Shiano has made some adjustments based on self reflection. Hopefully, it's real and not just "coach speak". If it is authentic, he'll do well in his next spot.

I hope the changes he makes at his next coaching stops are real as well. If they are he will be successful. It impresses me that he has reached out to some of the most successful coaches in the industry to get ideas for doing things differently. I think that is the hallmark of a good coach.

The truth about any HC hire is you don't know what you'll really get until 4-5 years down the line. And just because a coach had success/failed at one school doesn't meant that will continue at the next one. Too many variables to say difinitively he will or won't succeed.

I'm pretty shocked at the sentiment towards Schiano in this thread.

Meanwhile we've got ******** still supporting Golden...and a bunch of others who think Butch would be a great fit.

Sorry...but I'll more than gladly stand on my own on this one. Schiano would be a **** of a hire...and there is no comparison between him and Golden for those who were insinuating as such.

The love affair with Butch on this site is simply mind blowing to me. If anyone is more like Golden, coaching wise, it's Butch. Conservative as **** and a bad gameday coach.

The only problem I have with Schiano is he wouldn't be here for very long. He wants to prove that he is an NFL caliber coach and UM would be a stepping stone to that end. I'd rather have Butch, he'd be here until the grim reaper comes for his ***!
