i cant believe what this staff is doing in 2 months. im having a hard time controlling my excitement.

It's his life and his choice. He decided he didn't want to play for Folden. It's a smart career move. Kid wants to win and play for a staff he likes. If our school didn't employ an atrocious head coach, Scarlett would be here.

Davante Phillips tried to make his recruitment interesting as well. Everyone knew he was going to FSU, and that's how it played out. Wherever Scarlett goes, whether it be us (not a chance), UF (my pick for his landing spot), or FSU, that will be Bruce's landing spot.
 
This is what happens when you go 6-7 and 28-22. Kids want to play for top quality coaches and a winning program. Everything else is window dressing.

The chumps bashing him wouldn't even commit to Golden, why would they expect a recruit to do any differently?

Smart move as we could be stuck with this chump head Cochrane for years as nobody has forced any change since he's been here. If he's a player, he'll make it elsewhere as well.

I agree some ppl in here getting out of control bashing him...But dude did this so dirty....You decommit three days before signing day ? Decked out with Miami gear on campus only to decommit a couple days later ? that's some ***** made ****....Nobody can convince me this dude is just now changing his mind

Let's take a gander at what has transpired over the past few months or so:

  • We ended the season 6-7 with a roster full of NFL players.
  • Following the abortion against South Carolina, Duke Johnson's mom calls out corch Golden and claims the majority of players would transfer if they didn't need to sit out a year.
  • Games including the East-West Shrine game and Senior bowl in which former 'Canes Chickillo and Dorsett question the ability of the coaches. Futhermore, we continue to hear "how the fck did Miami go 6-7 last year" from scouts seeing this talent on display.
  • Golden continues to publicly humiliate himself, claiming people b*tching need to take a step back and appreciate the progress being made after going 9-4 in Year 3 to 6-7 in Year 4 (lulz).

This has nothing to do with an 18-year-old being a diva. Or about any boogeymen behind the scenes paying players behind poor Al's back.

This is the worst I've seen the program post-Butch and, quite frankly, I'm surprised it took this long for the kid to decommit.

Everything you say is correct. It was also true 3 months ago. What most people take issue with is holding a scholarship spot for so long, sending out pro UM tweets, and coming to campus decked out in Canes gear just recently, only to decommit 3 days before NSD. We let other recruits go by the wayside because of this guy. That happens, but he left us no time to try and re-establish communication with anybody of significance.

Three months ago he didn't have an offer from FSU. Three months ago Jim McElwain hadn't been hired at UF. Three months ago, he hadn't officially visited those schools. A lot has changed during this time and the toxicity level within the program has reached an entirely new level.

And fck this notion that he left us high and dry and we weren't able to re-establish a connection with other targets.

How can you say that what Scarlett did is bullshlt, when Golden completely fcked up Cronkrite's recruitment and hasn't offered a quality player like Jalen Julius to give us a better shot at Williams.

Scarlett doesn't owe Golden or this staff anything. If we hadn't shlt the bed this season and repeatedly burned bridges with other players, this would not be a problem.

Yeah, i'm a little upset about it as well. I don't usually bash kids either unless they purposely do things for attention or act stupid, but Scarlett committing meant we pushed others out (Cronkite) b/c he was on the top of our boards. He rides that committment, reps the U all season, and the weekend of signing day bolts? I have made a lot of big decisions in my life, and i can tell you one thing for sure......i never changed my mind at the 11th hour unless i was already leaning that way for some time.

Scarlett seems like a good dude so i won't hold any ill will. I just wish he was wearing a Canes uni next year. Rep the 305 and bring SWAG back to South Beach.

Apparently he isn't a good dude. Can't see how he thought it was a good idea or on the level to string us along and decomitt in the eve of signing day.
 
Kids could come here and be the guy from day 1 (over yearby) and chooses to go elsewhere. Coach, program/joke of an admin, facilities, and a true fanbase that barely fills our stadium are to blame. This program is doomed and needs a reboot. FML...
