Saturday After BBall Game -- BOT/Golden Protest At The BUC

I was there @ 6pm and saw nothing but Coral Gables Police.
not one single soul had a sign, cut ties, candy canes, or anything anti-golden.
atleast nothing convincing enough to start streaking.

a trip to the goldens residence is more fun then this

Schedule another one. From my sources....

"There were enough people milling around waiting for it to happen (25-40ish). If someone had sparked the rally with signs or chanting it would have been something noticeable."

Someone on the CanesTime basketball forum noted that during the Illinois game last week some folks from the Beta frat
starting chanting "Fire Golden"
during game but were hushed up.
There is some interest out there but, as someone else noted, this is soFla and we have alot of dopey folks.

I instantly take back everything negative I've ever said about frats in my life.

Some of you live in fantasy land. Any supposed consensus on this board or any message board is not representative of the fan base. Sorry. Most rational people probably believe firing Golden is not happening this year. He will hang himself next year when he lays a dud again. I bet the person who started this idea of a rally really believed hundreds would show up - talk about delusional. Banners, "protests", repetitive posts on message boards - none will do anything to effect change. Get over it.

I didn't think there were any of you left.

Well in any event, ms golden thanks you, you're saving her a jaw a workout even as we approach the offseason.

What will happen and what should happen are two different things.

Do you think it's rational to keep a guy who doesn't want to be here and doesn't deserve to be here?

Worst case, the team is terrible next year and the school fires him. Best case, the team does well next year and he leaves anyway. Either way, you waste a year of the next coach's development, kill two recruiting classes and poison your consumer base. It's pennywise and dollar stupid.

I don't see why we can't do a catch-all, miscellaneous protest, while we're at it. Call it Occupy the U and protest the 1%, the bankers, the polluters, globalism, tuition, and everything else.

I know how these things work. To get real attention, you need to do something extraordinary, like block some traffic, set some fires, set up barricades and even overturn some Gables police cars. Once you get the national and international media to report on it, the demonstrators in Europe will adopt it as one of their issues. Can you imagine the militant demonstrators on the barricades in Paris calling for Golden's firing? Can you just see those signs complaining about Dorino? The French have the coolest signs and banners. La Monde will start reporting on it. They'll assign a reporter to cover signing day. Most of us will not be able to understand a word of it but will be the talk of the U's French instructors. After that, Golden's days will be numbered.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. Miami is for sure in a lose-lose situation. As you may well know, the only way Golden is definitely not the coach in 2015 is if he voluntarily leaves for another job. Another embarrassing performance in a bowl game could sway some movers and shakers.

You are just stating the obvious. I don't think anyone believes Golden is anything more than a lame duck coach in 2015- a dead man walking.

The bowl game may be our only hope. If we lose, I'm not sure the school can keep making excuses.

Can't imagine a scenario where Miami wins it's bowl game, regardless of opponent. Best case is a blowout loss vs UCF. Miami would be forced to can Golden........

.........right?

Worst case IMO....Would never root against Miami but if they had to lose, definitely wouldn't want it to be to any florida team other than the Gators or Seminoles. We don't need Central FLa stealing recruits also. The Canes reputation suck already with Golden running the show. Even though its obvious that the big 3 in Florida is not like it used to be, we don't need proof by catching an *** whooping to Central Florida. That would probably hurt more in the long run just like losing to wannabee Miami last year. Would rather play against somebody that we don't normally battle for recruits.

Two nerds on bicycles from UMPD took my Fire Al Golden sign and made me leave campus.

Kim Jong Al has his troops on high alert. It's a miracle I made it back with my head.

Police presence was definitely higher than normal for a Canes basketball game. Either way, the whole plan was to only initiate the rally if there were at least 100 supporters. Since there wasn't anything close to that number, high police presence, and Canes basketball got upset = no real point in starting the rally.

Lessons learned, though...

FIRE AL GOLDEN

Rally stuff really works at schools with large student size that actually care about their football.
I am not sure this is the case at UM.
Too many foreign and northerner soccer suburban types on that campus.
It is going to be up to the folks who support this program, the alums, the fans from near
and out of the area....and the best that they can do is to completely avoid UM athletics.
Not just fooball, but don't attend any basketball or baseball games.
