Sanders Tears

That's possible, but leading up to the draft, many evaluators were saying that he possessed a high football IQ because of his ability to read defenses & go through full field progressions. They were touting that as one of his strengths along with his accuracy. The lack of football IQ doesn't really show up on tape.

What's more plausible imo, is that his lack of humility during the pre-draft process made teams weary & they began to view him as a high-risk prospect. In the NIL era of CFB where players have the potential to earn essentially unlimited compensation, humility matters; even more so if you're a QB who's an unfinished product. How much of this lack of humility can be attributed to NIL vs his father? That's a fair question, but Deion deserves a lot of the blame here because he was his father, HC, & agent during the entire process.

Ultimately, NFL teams viewed Shedeur as the poster child for everything wrong with the NIL era of CFB, & collectively decided to make an example out of him.
And see I heard the opposite that when Pat Shurmur came in he ran NFL concepts but a lot of it was two route combos and then if it didn’t open up he held the ball and got sacked to save that 70% completion percentage. He was not full field reading. Scouts felt they could not get a honest cannon him because his daddy was the coach and nobody in the building would say what they truly think about him as a player but more importantly as a person. Lastly lack of prep for the pre draft process doomed him too. He was not fully prepared because they “knew” a team was gonna take him high and he didn’t have to prepare or throw for teams. They overplayed their hand.

It’s called reading and believing your press clippings except his were created for the most part by his daddy…

Remember when Deion called out Mark Pope in a televised team meeting, essentially cutting him from the program in front of a bunch of cameras?

Remember when Deion told all the Colorado players to hit the portal because he was bringing his own guys and those guys weren’t good enough?

Yeah. Being embarrassed on a national stage sure does hurt, doesn’t it?

dont wanna hear **** about anyone defending him...

dude did this to himself.

dad didn't help either..

I love what the @Browns have done this offseason but if im a young QB ain't no way im going to Cleveland. I would pull a ELI MANNING If possible. #ThinkAboutthat #Truth

☝🏾Why don't more so call experts bring this up? Sheduer has only played for his dad. What kind of player is he really? Obviously Deion put his sons in the best possible situation to be successful. Deion was his sons pop warner coach, their high school coach, and probably ran basic plays, than became a college coach and had to find an OC who could run a more pro style system.

Can Sheduer read a defenses....and if he can’t the head coach which is also his dad will probably enccurage the OC to run plays to allow the QB to excel .ie quick reads buble screens go route etc.

It was said that Sheduer purposely had bad interviews to keep from being drafted by certain teams. WHY would you purposefully tank a job interview that only less 1% of the world can even apply for?

All of Deions tv and social media friends are blaming the NFL for thus mess, but no blame goes to the Sanders? The blame is probably on both parties but this narrative of sabotage is BS!!

He can run his Dad's offense just fine. Its the offense he has run since he was a kid and Deion was the playcaller every step of the way.

The story with Daboll...many would point to whatever happened after...but I focus on the point that he couldn't remember the install or didn't prepare for the install or just didn't know. Anything after is usually theatrics to blur the point that he didn't know.

The other story that Albert Breer mentioned in the article with another team that had one of his INTs lined up...my attention goes straight to the point that he couldn't identify what went wrong.

He also didn't do any of the rudimentary fun stuff pre-draft like the Gruden Camp show that lets these QBs show off that side of themselves.

You would point to the lack of humility, and that is totally understandable. That lack of humility isn't Pick 144, that's a guy that is seen as a backup by league.

Couple that with the story of Colorado demoting and letting go of a very respected offensive playcaller that left a head coaching gig (and got a head coaching gig immediately after he was let go) in the middle of the season.

One of my quarterback scouting notes that I always refer back to came from a story where Tajh Boyd recalled why he didn't make it in the NFL as a backup and he outlined some pretty good reasons for it and its always stuck with me. In the NFL, as a backup, if you are the kind of learner where you need reps in the offense to really learn the offense (which Tajh Boyd says he was), you won't make it. Those backup QBs need to be booksmart and able to learn the offense without the reps (because they don't really get much) and when called upon you need to be able to run a rudimentary version of the offense without many reps - think of why Josh Dobbs has had a career for long in the NFL. The kind of "drop" we saw with Shedeur only happens when there is information we don't know or there is some sort of crime. What information don't we know about him? Probably a lot, but in this case, my hypothesis is he just doesn't know ball at the level he needs to and some of these vague reports of what happened in this meeting absolutely showcase the lack of humility, but also showcase that this guy might not know his ****. Both are probably true, but I don't think the lack of humility alone gets him to 144.

The lack of humility lessened his options, but those teams that were an option did not think he could play, even as a backup. By the time he was taken by Cleveland, they just saw him as a lotto ticket. The other teams took QBs or waited until Shedeur was gone to take theirs (like Pittsburgh).

With that said, this guy summarizes my overall point I was making during the draft about him. That is the information we didn't know.

I said this at the start of Day 3.

So he's a slow dumb midget?

😬

Than throw the ball away or run it....you don't take a 20 yard sack. OP above hit the nail on the head if you throw the ball away it hurts your completion perception, which was his only claim to fame.

Throwing the ball away and running is also a function of pass protection. Sometimes you can't do either when the D-Line is on you in less than a second. PS, you have to get out of the pocket to throw the ball away, otherwise it's grounding, and His pass protection didn't even allow Him to do that.

If you watched Sheduer play you would know he had chances to throw the ball away....but he chose to take a 20 yard sack on several occasions.

What a load of crap excuse-making.

Shadeur's pass protection was fine. He had much more than "less than a second" to throw the ball.

Stop making up bull**** to try to defend this guy. He just wasn't as good as some people hype him up to be.

Do you think the DL are going to be slower in the NFL and his pass protection will be immaculate all the time?

He's going to have to mature big time and accept coaching that he's never had to deal with in his life before. You see flashes of what he's capable of for sure. He's got a long way to go both physically and mentally to be a successful professional QB.

Cam got a nice nil deal to come here. Didn’t kill his desire. Jeremiah smith got a huge deal to go to osu. Didn’t stop him from being great.
The comment doesn’t apply to all players, of course. There are a lot of players who play for the love of the game despite getting paid millions of dollars. There are a lot of players who do just enough to get by and keep getting paid. There are a lot of players who once they get that fat contract don’t live up to it. And yes, I will admit we often judge performance based on the dollar figure not admitting the dollar figure was based on the market.

It is indeed only football which is why, in a strictly football and athletic sense, I hate everything about that program, including their uniforms, players, coaches, and their tradition of trashing UM. I don't care if this is about the son of a Nole who barely acknowledges his alma-mater, the DNA never goes away. Eff every single one. Again, this is from an athletics perspective. I have family and friends who are Noles and I'm good with them. But eff this Nut Hugging of Nole athletes by many of our so-called fans.

.
Not one group of people has a monopoly on racism. Racists and bigots come from all parts of the country, world and this includes people of ALL races, religion and ethnicity. So it stands to reason our fan base has their share of bigots. This should not be a revelation to anyone and we as Cane fans have witnessed some of this against our guys by many who follow college athletics (we have witnessed some of this on CIS, of all places). But none of this is why Sanders received the backlash. It was mostly brought on by themselves disrespecting people and also by ESPN's dopey narratives (we have been on the wrong end of much of their propaganda).
I don’t disagree with most of what u said but i think it’s naive to think none of this level of backlash is rooted in racism. Also ESPN did their job, i think i saw something earlier saying ratings were up 40% from last year? You think this many people would be interested in day2 and 3 of the nfl draft if this wasn’t a story? I had family members asking me about the draft and they couldn’t name 5 nfl teams lol..People have to stop watching this stuff if they don’t understand it’s scripted and controlled to get the most ratings possible

I don't disagree with you that there is a level of racism amongst some of the people criticizing the Sanders' family, even if they acted like Jacka$$es during the draft process. But ESPN and other networks has played the race card forever, especially against UM (calling our players thugs). Which is why I haven't watched any of these college shows since 2000.
