Sanders Tears

Compton's own Marcellus Wiley had one of the most fair & pragmatic takes on this that I've heard:

If your personality & flash precedes the substance of your game & potential, then there's a problem. When it comes to drafting a player, teams are making a projection, & often times the perception is the reality. If u choose to conduct the pre-draft process in an unserious manner, then it begins to limit the number of teams that may select u. This is only compounded by the fact that u chose not to hire an NFL agent, who could have helped to perform damage control on your behalf leading up to the draft & come from a privileged background with a father who was an all-time great athlete.

Just say you never watched him play.

There were tons of games where he showed he was a legit talent. Now acting like he didn't have any good games is just weird.

You don't have to build up this weird story about how he now sucked, we know this aint about his talent. It's about everything else that came a long with him and how he treated the NFL process.
I Didnt make a habit of watching the Buffs..did a couple times, as nothing better was on. I dont want to be quoted saying he isnt talented...he is! But, my question was,.. where was the "oh wow" moments. Where was HE, the game changer? ...where did he protect his team, by shouldering the blame, for games that didnt go as planned?
I didnt watch a lot of colorado's games, but of what i have seen, and all the press coverage of his play time/hilights..i havent the "IT" factor.....i havent seen "the man" thats gonna TAKE his team somewhere. Thats just my opinion

Let me continue to challenge, much as a law professor would.

How much better was Manziel than Sanders in college? @Memnon

I’m not doubting SS talent, I believe he’s talented but I think alot of this has to do with Deion being father, coach, agent, PR specialist etc.

If SS played for any team that Deion wasnt a coach of, and Deion let the kid be himself and didn’t speak to the media all the time, he would have went as the 2nd or 3rd QB

Even Cam has jabbed at SS about his stats, claiming the majority of his stats are because of check downs and he doesn’t push the ball

I think he might fall a bit more. If a team had a top grade on him they would've traded up to the first to get that extra year of control. Plus all the QB needy teams have already passed on him. If Steelers, Saints, Jets, Browns, Colts loved him they would have taken him already - you don't F around with QB.

He might fall to a team that is planning to sit him a year or two - Rams, Seahawks, Raiders.
Agree, if you read an earlier post of mine on here, I stated the facts behind his fall in the draft and I wouldn’t even call it a fall because anyone that has a minuscule amount of football knowledge, can see clear as day that he has a weak arm and no athleticism. A lack of both those strengths, are not gonna get you picked high in the draft, no matter how much BS media propaganda is behind you and that’s all that has been from ESPN and Fox Sports, is pure propaganda BS. The draft will show your colors through and through. There is no hiding your weaknesses when it comes time to be picked in the draft. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he’d be picked in the third round, but he wasn’t even picked then. I can see fifth round now at the earliest due to all the quarterback, needing teams, already drafting a guy. Beyond that, I think McCord is the next quarterback off the board before Sanders.

LOL dude you need to do so more research. Posting definitions... because you don't know what it is actually. You don't have to have an actual agreement to collude, you don't have to have some secret meeting. But I ain't your law professor kid and my name aint google.

Obviously you got some hard on with arguing about stuff. I ain't your dude there either...

Did you just call me dude and then tell me I’m not your dude either when I never called you dude?? Are you talking to yourself?

You brought up the idiotic conspiracy theory that 32 nfl teams are in collusion to not draft a certain player. And they somehow pulled this off without communicating with each other? And don’t give me that **** about silent collusion because that would be even more idiotic than your original theory.

You’re making the point that 32 teams came to the same conclusion individually…

No.

I don't think Shedeur's draft stock falling has anything to do with race.

I think the glee & vitriol people have at seeing him humbled & hoping he fails is 100% about race.

You making that assumption & not taking into the fact that most people are scraping to get by pay check to paycheck to barely make ends meet & they see this self entitled self proclaimed “legendary” athlete get humbled seems to pretty on par. Of course regular blue collar people are getting popcorn and watching this jackasses fall from grace gleefully

These teams don’t GAF about race. They care about winning, the QB could be half mermaid and they would draft him if he made their team better.

Deion can blame himself for this. Hes done SS no favors, and teams know if they draft him then Deion will always be talking to the media.

SS was portrayed by multiple people who interviewed him as lazy, entitled and unwilling to take blame on himself.

So to answer your question, if all the same factors were the same, the QB would drop regardless of race.

Race has NOTHING to do with this
So if he was white he still wouldn’t be drafted by now? Sorry, but I didn’t see an answer in your response.

Facts! That’s why I like Orlovsky, he speaks facts out there and not propaganda BS like the rest of the panel. Of course, most of the panel never even played this game of football, so we’ve come to expect that BS from them. But Orlovsky played this game at the quarterback level and sees what anyone else who played this game at a higher level can see as well. Sanders has a weak arm and no athleticism and that will get you in big time trouble in the NFL. Well, I would never root against a kid, I do love seeing all those Talking Heads on ESPN right now eating their words on Sanders, especially with the disrespect they showed Cam on day one.

Spot on

I just laugh at the NFL anyway. If Sanders was Joe Burrow coming out he would still be #1

These guys love to make examples out of people when it’s convenient but year after year prove that talent is much more important than character

You can beat your wife or take assault rifles with you wherever you want as long as you can give them 10 sacks but now suddenly they don’t like someone’s attitude because he’s not a sure fire player

It’s a joke

Not that it matters, but here are my thoughts:

1. Stop celebrating someone’s struggles and disappointments. It’s sad and a poor example for how we should treat one another. Be kind, respectful, and have a little empathy. The world would be a better place.

2. The NFL has no obligation to draft anyone. The reasons for the owner of team not wanting someone are irrelevant. Life isn’t fair, I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone.

3. By all accounts he seems like a good kid and while not a perfect father (who is) Deion has done a lot of great things for his children. I hope those factors translate to a happy, fulfilled life for Shedeur. He is facing some adversity and disappointment. Hopefully, the positive things in his life help him overcome it.

I think you’re only partially correct. I think his annoying dad and his entitled/flashy personality are what people don’t like. Same way they don’t like baby Gronk and didn’t like prince Haseem for example. Him being black is not the reason. It’s how they both act.

Good luck finding a white professional athlete that talks as crazy and is as flashy as Deion or his son. Maybe Jason Williams?

If he carried himself in a more professional manner, he’d have been drafted by now. Either way I don’t really care if he is drafted high or low. I just don’t like the race argument. It’s behavior, not color that determines a man’s value. If collectively, brown and black people would start carrying ourselves correctly and holding ourselves to higher standards, we wouldn’t have to FAKE surprised when we get treated like **** by the white people who run **** and have their act together…

This says it all "One longtime NFL assistant coach said his time with Sanders was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life. He's so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. ... But the biggest thing is, he's not that good."
Your last sentence, is the end all be all of it. He just isn’t that good, people seem to forget where he was recruited to and went out of high school. He didn’t go to that small time college because he wanted to, that was the only offer he had. And as we know, from Cam, that is not the end all but unlike cam, he didn’t show major improvements from their moving on. And the fact of the matter is, the reason he didn’t, is because he didn’t have the tools to do it. Whereas Cam did, cam always had a strong arm, and he always had above average athleticism. Those traits can take you a long way if you’re willing to work at it. And because of his extreme entitlement issues, I questioned Sanders’s work ethic as well.

I think the glee is about race but the vitriol is over espn and how it hyped Shedeur up when they likely have had tons of insider info for weeks if not months that Shedeur was not being considered as a first round pick.

I don’t know about 100%.

Much of the enjoyment people are having at the fall of Shedeur Sanders has to do with his and his father’s self-promotion. ESPN hyping him every moment they get only adds fuel.

I remember a lot of fans happy Johnny Manziel fell flat on his face. I remember a lot of fans turned off by Baker Mayfield’s antics in college. And those two were Heisman Trophy winners who won a high level.

Fans like to see ****y, arrogant players humbled, mainly when those players aren’t on their favorite team. I suspect a lot of this is because the players are able to do many fantastic things fans could never do in their wildest dreams.

Same reason so many fans hated the Miami Hurricanes and the 80s and 90s.

Are you always going to have racists rooting against people they hate? Yes, but you’ll always have way more people rooting for arrogant people to be humbled.

more people tuned in, in hopes to see “Money-May” lose because of his shear arrogance more than because of the color of his skin. Meanwhile Ali is the most beloved sports figure in American history
