Samson move him to guard

Cantwell doesn’t look athletic at all jogging off after PATs. I hope he’s got a lot more flex than what is seen on a jog off the field.

Man you're gonna get draaaaagggged for this comment, but....I got to be honest. When I saw him jog at Stanford coming off the field, I had a similar thought. Not that his jog can say much of anything, but it did not look athletic.

Yes we can rotate DL WR, LB, DB, RB but how dare you talk about the lack of any rotation at OLine.
The same coaching staff rotated OL in 24 & 25. Why do you think they aren't doing the same now? We just kept the starting OL in up 52-14 with 8 minutes left to play against Pitt. We had backups in at every other position. Why do you think the coaches, who know from experience the value of rotating a sixth OL, did this?

Could be but going to disagree (respectfully).

Theyre paying Cantwell a lot of money, if anything they'd be inclined to throw him out there too early vs the contrary.

This team looks championship minus O-line and DB (without OJ/Antoine). If Cantwell were ready to be a competent tackle I dont think you roll with a mid o line just to appease a player who isnt going to portal midseason anyway.

I think he's a raw tackle who was extremely hard to eval due to competition and when in camps struggled with pass pro. In the little we've seen from him his feet seem just ok and he plays extremely high. It might be a hard pill to swallow but theres a great chance he's completely unplayable right now against legit competition and wont be for a while.

Step aside and let me take over this foot talk.....

KIDDING!!!!

Samson actually is a mediocre tackle but I’m not sure we have anything in cantwell yet.
Would project better on the right side or inside at guard if we had a tackle to replace him so Mensah can actually step into a throw at some point this year

Have they done this the last two weeks?? No rotation at Offense line, til late in the game. Yes we did do it last year and look how it helped us this year. We did it 24 and it helped Bell last year. I don't hate Samson, I thought he was very good at Guard last year.

That's what I am asking you: Why do you think the same coaching staff that knows the value of rotating a 6th OL stopped doing it after Max got hurt against Clemson?

This is the last thing I'm gonna say about this and yall can have this thread. As usual, people cannot understand context, nuance, or frankly, the English language. Nobody is saying Samson is playing like Joe Thomas. Nobody is saying he's an All-America. Nobody is saying he can't be better. Literally nobody.

What people are saying is, he's our starting left tackle, and we have the #1 scoring offense in America by a wide-margin, and two Heisman finalists, both on our offense. Our team is a pass-first operation, being championed by a right-handed quarterback who is, largely, a pocket passer. To this point, he has taken very few, if any, massive blind-side shots due to the ineptitude of our left tackle. No coach in the history of football is benching or moving their starting Left Tackle when their team is #1 in the country, with the best offense in the country, and they throw the ball exclusively with a right-handed passer. HE'S NOT GETTING BENCHED, NOR SHOULD HE! I don't understand how else yall wanna do this. 4 pages of complete ******* nonsense.

If we lose a game this year, or let's put it this way, if we don't win the national championship, and it's because of Samson Okunlola, I would bet my life that Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal would wear that one. But we're not replacing our ******* left tackle at 7-0 and #1 in the country. Close this stupid *** thread.
This has to be the worst post I have seen on this board. It shows a lack of a any intelligence. Every team improves during a season, every coach tries to take advantage of their weakness. Clearly if you watched the game on Saturday you saw Mensah get crushed more then once from his blindside. Landon saw it and pointed it out as well. You don't think Belichick saw it or ND didn't see it. Giving up the most pressures as LT is not a good thing. Pitt was the best D line we saw all year, it will only get tougher against Georgia, Texas or OSU. But, no how dare anyone question anything we are all idiots compared to you!! It is your stupid ******* board close it you immature *******

This. Expectations need to be reset. We aren't as good as last two years, and that is OK. We are stronger in other areas. No team will be perfect. The OL is still above average.

His. Point is there is no one better. Dawson has to scheme it up differently. Bring Lofton in to chip. Keep Fletcher in to block more. It’s going to make us less explosive but we need to run the ball. A healthy D and Hetherman is going to keep us in every game.

I agree. Thanks for coming out.

25 OL spoiled these guys.

We're 7-0 and #1 in the nation. Guess we need something to ***** about and dissect.
If you don’t think the oline will be a problem when the talent level picks up I don’t know what to tell ya…

Pitt has a pulse in pressure and it immediately showed with mensah needing to be picked up off the ground.

Maybe it’s also because we seem to get another new (but it’s not new) OL thread every day or two??

Two things can be true. Samson is a guard but he is currently our best left tackle so guard isn’t an option right now

Secondly, yall spent weeks trying to move mccoy back to guard and people still doing it now and it was for the unknown of cantwell but now its a crazy thing to suggest samson to guard? Lol cmon

Everyone keeps assuming he’s playing well when he hasn’t been for weeks. Idc about no **** media all american list either lol..Hopefully he gets better as the season goes on

Wait for it…… he’s getting there. Give him some time

Someone said put congdon at lt as he struggled in pass pro this game heavy. The pieces aren’t there fully but trust the staff to maximize what they have.

It’s not madden you can’t plug and play players based off overalls. Theres chemistry that comes from over time.

Yet he still got them for 400. FSU got theirs, Clemson got theirs to some degree. Notre Dame will get more pressure than Pitt. But when you have an offense this dynamic, two or three sacks and a handful of pressures isn’t enough. You better have an answer for Mali because as Pitt saw, it’s going to be a long day even if Mensah hits the ground a couple times. You are confusing this offense with least years. This offense can actually play behind the sticks, last year no bueno.
