Samson move him to guard

Our QB is on pace to potentially win the Heisman Trophy (he's 2nd on the odds board right now) and has a real shot to be in the conversation for the best season in the history of the sport, so I'm with you guys, I think switching up his backside protection and opening him up to taking a helmet directly to the center of the spine is a **** of an idea. I say go for it.
I’ve seen Samson get a bunch of times by what should be inferior competition. I would get it if he was playing lights out.

Samson gotta be hurt or something. Idk why he’s not throwing his punches anymore and letting people get up on him or bend around him on the speed rush.

I guess you can say there was an uptick in competition from Clemson on, but, man, he looks like a different player out there rn.

If he gets more to form, that will go a loooong way.
Yea people act like he’s been playing like Trent Williams.

yes mario cristobal and alex mirabel have a vendetta against their prized recruit while playing other freshmen

please someone here make this all make sense...
Yeah, guys who have poured their blood, sweat, and tears into a program for 4 plus years. A coach has never prioritized upper class men who have done everything asked of them over a freshmen.

“Left tackle Samson Okunlola has allowed 12 pressures, which is the most on the team.”

That was before the Clemson game. I don’t recall Clemson but he definitely allowed pressures against Pitt. Im not saying he has to be perfect and not allow any pressures but people act like he hasn’t struggled at all in pass pro.

edit: sorry used the wrong link at first. This was actually before the Pitt game, not Clemson when this was written.

This is the last thing I'm gonna say about this and yall can have this thread. As usual, people cannot understand context, nuance, or frankly, the English language. Nobody is saying Samson is playing like Joe Thomas. Nobody is saying he's an All-America. Nobody is saying he can't be better. Literally nobody.

What people are saying is, he's our starting left tackle, and we have the #1 scoring offense in America by a wide-margin, and two Heisman finalists, both on our offense. Our team is a pass-first operation, being championed by a right-handed quarterback who is, largely, a pocket passer. To this point, he has taken very few, if any, massive blind-side shots due to the ineptitude of our left tackle. No coach in the history of football is benching or moving their starting Left Tackle when their team is #1 in the country, with the best offense in the country, and they throw the ball exclusively with a right-handed passer. HE'S NOT GETTING BENCHED, NOR SHOULD HE! I don't understand how else yall wanna do this. 4 pages of complete ******* nonsense.

If we lose a game this year, or let's put it this way, if we don't win the national championship, and it's because of Samson Okunlola, I would bet my life that Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal would wear that one. But we're not replacing our ******* left tackle at 7-0 and #1 in the country. Close this stupid *** thread.

Straw man argument. Not one person said he should get benched. People are saying he should be moved to guard l.

Some fans: hey maybe we should move the guy who has allowed the most pressures on the team to his natural guard spot so he can replace the weakest link (SJ) on the line and we can try out the #1 high school recruit in the nation at his natural left tackle spot.

CIS; no, that’s retarted (while they complain about SJ and the offensive line every single ******* week)

It’s fine to disagree with it, but to act like it just makes absolutely no sense is actually retarted. I’m done too.

But just to reiterate, Samson has allowed THE MOST PRESSURES ON THE TEAM. So please stop acting like we don’t have to worry that he’s protecting Mensah’s blindside.

Dont try to shift the decision making to "CIS" to justify your stance.

Its not CIS who is keeping Samson at LT, And who has SJ playing Guard along with another true freshman.

Thats not CIS.

That is the COACHES making that call. The same coaches who watch them every day in practice. Same coaches who made a national championship game and our amongst the best offensive line coaches in the coutnry. Not CIS.

You are challenging the coaches based off nothing but a HS star rating given by a website. You have no positive game film of Cantwell. You dont have access to practice film. Nothing but yet you claim the coaches promised the starting spot to two older guys. Same coaches who constantly play freshman. The canes are 2nd in the country with most snaps by freshman.

So your theory and argument is based on nothing. That is why people are making your argument feel stupid. Because it is.

FWIW:
Bottom 5 Canes from Pitt Game according to PFF (3 of the 5 on the offensive line)

1) Ben Congdon – 42.4

2) Zechariah Poyser – 42.7

3) Seuseu Alofaituli – 51.5

4) Samson Okunlola – 53.0

5) Ezekiel Marcelin, Jr. – 53.2

Yes I’m sure you’ve never questioned anything the coaches have done.

This is the second worst line that Mario’s had here. After 2022 of course. Honestly this year is a failure considering they doubled down on their recruits. And it hasn’t paid off. Like they promised a shot to multiple guys last year for this season.

Reality is if Ryan rod was good he wouldn’t have been portaled over 3 years in a row. SJ isn’t a guard. Maybe if he’s a center the line is better. Staff probably assumed Cantwell would be one of the guards. Who knows.
The year is a failure? 😨 Hold on to this post guys…
The line is a failure, relative to expectations and standards set by this staff. Especially with the financials committed to the position.
