Sam Bruce is now my favourite recruit (again)

Hope we can keep him, this is a step in the positive direction. Bruce is who he is, plays with a lot of heart, can make the great catches, just a terrific football player and a south Florida legend. And out of any of the kids we have recruited from south Florida the last couple of years he is the closest fo having that old cane mentality.... Much is made about him running a 4.5, it's just silly remember he had just come off of a serious ankle injury just a couple of months before....

It's hysterical how much Bruce's height/speed fluctuates among this board's posters depending on his commitment status.

In threads where he's trolling and rumored to be flipping, he's 5'6" and runs a 4.6. When it seems his commitment might be solid again, he's 5'11" with elite speed.

Geo smh. Can this guy just go away. He gets everything wrong even when he throws a bunch of **** at the wall hoping something sticks.

Noteworthy that Richt is using Mrs. Richt within recruiting too. Throw in JR being on the staff too and he's obviously able to sell the "family" aspect that Saban and the other pros try to do by having kids to their house during OV's and such. I'm not even bashing Alfredo here but the most I remember of Kelly being involved was him using some undisclosed "medical issue" of hers to duck out for a few days.

Well **** lol, it's true though. A lot of schools take the recruits to the coaches house like bama

I can't stand Ferman and his website at all, but it's bs IMO copying and pasting his article. The person who did it should've paraphrased it and at least linked it. You want the entire thing, pay for it.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way....where's all the people who said he isn't a priority now? Seems Richt doesn't see it that way.

I didn't like the games. But I've always liked his playmaking. Thrilled he realized playing for the U, with Kaaya and Allison throwing him the ball, will give him the best future. This kid will be taking snaps from Berrios on day 1. And I'm a fan a BB (his injury affected him last year, won't this coming season). Bruce is a QB's best friend, he seems to always get separation. Williams, Bruce and Richards, with Mullins pulling a Trayon Gray or coming back after 1 year of prep. That would be an amazing haul.

Sounded to me like he wants to go away but momma isn't having it. This is yet another example of how location tends to be the #1 factor for recruits and is Miami's number one core competency.

Time to start taking advantage of it again.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas WR Sam Bruce and his mother, Tracye Wilkerson, took an official visit to Miami this weekend.

They will now huddle to try and come up with a decision that could be announced anytime from today through signing day.

Wilkerson has a unique way of describing the decision-making process for the two of them: "He's the head, but I'm the neck."

Translation: Mom will have plenty of input.

And, using that analogy, "the neck" wants to a UM scarf wrapped around it.

"I'm a South Florida gal," Wilkerson said. "For me personally, this visit was the icing on the cake. But it's not me that has to go to class, get on the field. I'm here to support him whichever way he chooses. But I'm his mom and I'd love for him to stay home."

The head?

Mom thinks Bruce is on board with Miami, where he's committed, but they are going to discuss all the pros and cons of his final three - Miami, South Carolina and Ohio State.

Making it all a bit simpler: Wilkerson said Bruce will not take a visit the final weekend of recruiting.

"He decided he took this visit and that's it, he's shutting it down," Wilkerson said. "The pressure, it's enough. He's had it."

This was Bruce's eighth time on campus with his mother - "the only difference with this being an official visit is we didn't have to pay for lunch," mom quipped.

She also made it clear to Bruce where her allegiances lie and is trying to make sure her son sees things her way ... perhaps better described as parental bribery.

"I'll bring him home cooked meals, will do his laundry (if he chooses UM)," she says.

Certainly the Canes put their best foot forward this weekend. Bruce was hosted by QB Brad Kaaya, and per mom the two formed a great bond.

"Brad, he had me laughing," Wilkerson said. "Sam had a really good time, the visit went very well. Every time I looked up at him he was grinning."

The impression coach Mark Richt made on mom?

"I was most impressed with coach Richt," Wilkerson said. "His philosophy and his coaching staff he put together is great. I also got a chance to meet his wife, she's a sweetheart. I love the family-oriented system he's trying to bring back to Miami that we witnessed in the '80s and early '90s, just a brotherhood. I love it, the whole direction."

Mom says Richt made it clear how badly the Hurricanes want Bruce in this recruiting class.

"Coach Richt wanted him to be his first (in home) visit after the dead period," Wilkerson said. "But we had to postpone that (due to filming of Bruce in a Playstation to Greatness segment). When coach Richt did come to the house (last week) it went very well. He's one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met. He took his shoes off and we had a chance to really dialogue and talk, he wasn't in any rush."

The big question remains: Where will Bruce play college football?

The "neck" is optimistic he'll choose a close-to-home destination.

"In my gut, yes, I think that he'll be a Cane and that his mom will pull out the orange and green to wear," Wilkerson said.

CaneSport's take

Mom was extremely excited after this visit, and if she has a good read on her son - and you have to think she does - all signs point to him winding up a Hurricane a week from Wednesday.

Any kid that would leave Miami to live in the Midwest is a dumbass. Further any black kid with option to stay in South Florida who decides to leave for states that fly confederate flags is nuts. Did that and there's nothing to see. Go to Miami to stimulate your mind, edify your soul, and rep your surroundings.

And for the "necks" that turn the heads, stop with this hat game on NSD. It's trashy and selfish; allow programs to make plans and offer scholarships in good faith.

Keep it classy, Miami

Wouldn't be the first time a recruit went against his mom's wishes.

Not celebrating just yet.

I see no reason to think Bruce was "playing Games." I think that he may just not have been sure where he wanted to go. Maybe he still isn't sure, but the quotes from his mother and the warmth she radiated make me think he will be a Cane.

Kid is a flake and attention *****. Isn't he committed to Miami? What the **** are they talking about making a "decision". You ain't Lebron James son .

A commit that needs to decide and announce is not really a commit.

Seems like mom had a good visit. Rooting for her on this one!

Ever look at the Florida state flag? Ever wonder where it came from? Ever curious about the overall form and what it represents?

Now are you talking about the Confederate flag - first, second, or third - or the battle flag? ****, you don't even know the difference.
