Expectations internally are sky high. Some people think he’s the twitchiest, most athletic player on the team.

One best-case scenario comp would be Kenneth Murray, LB from Oklahoma. Similar physical profiles and both were edge rushers in high school:

Kenneth Murray (HS junior): 6’2, 215, 4.68 forty, 4.34 shuttle, 34.6 VJ, 42.5 PB, 115.35 SPARQ

Sam Brooks (HS sophomore): 6’2, 194, 4.62 forty, 4.20 shuttle, 36.2 VJ, 42 PB, 116.91 SPARQ

And correct me if I’m wrong, he will be 2 years removed from his ACL injury in high school? Yeah, he won’t be wearing a knee brace this year.. I believe he had double digit tackles against La Tech in the bowl game? Brooks is going to ball this year.

I hope Huff was working on his body hard last year during his academic redshirt. Him and brooks are great athletes at the LB position man.. SPEED. Huff now just needs to the reps and playing time. McCloud at MLB will be interesting..

I think in response to a post @HighSeas made about Brooks last year I mentioned Tavares Gooden. I know it's unlikely we have verified athletic HS testing numbers for Gooden. However, Gooden's transition from HS rush End to College LB and the style he and Brooks chased plays down always made me remember Gooden. I think Gooden was like 230 when he entered the NFL. I think Brooks can be pretty close to that in the next couple years. Interested to see Brooks' instincts in choosing gaps this year. We know he can run to the sidelines and chase plays backside well.
