Sam Brooks

It was the most infuriating sh*t I seen the whole **** game.

****** Spaghetti sauce walk-on who has no business being on the field was getting worked in coverage & missing tackles left & right.

This staff is complete GARBAGE.
Guy got exposed on the edge with an easy tackle for loss and gets beat to shreds. Why are our young guys the only young guys not ready to play ever?

Coming from Highschool as a rush end then learning how to play linebacker in college is tough. Unless he’s a bright kid who understands coverage and reading keys alignment and assignment you can’t put him out there. He would be thinking more than playing and what good is that. I’m almost 100% that’s why he’s not on the field.

Remember when we used to move safeties to linebacker to get their speed and athleticism in space instead of DEs? Those were good times.

So throwing out walk-ons that the opposing staff is targeting is a better idea?

Yeah but the game has evolved so much with the spread. Defenses check to certain formations to take away what teams wanna do. And as a football player if you can’t adapt on the fly you can hurt your team on defense.

Unfortunately yeah because maybe Sam doesn’t understand the defensive checks and assignments for the week. If Sam can’t get lined up and the other kid can well you put the kid who understands the defensive scheme better. Unfortunately it doesn’t matter how big strong or fast you are YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO GET LINED UP. but what I’m saying is speculation of course on why Sam may not be out there

Isn't that the coaches job to coach up the talent?

If anything with the current use of the spread that would make more sense. We did that with the striker in essence. Shaq and Pinckney are entirely ill suited to play in space.

The rationale for it is much crazier. During the game, I was like "bet they'll say he hasn't practiced there and isn't prepared." Well, ****, whose fault is that? And, at what point do you realize "they're running every important play at the Ragone kid; just change anything."

I'm at complete loss, as I've said repeatedly after UNC, how there can be such a massive difference between being detailed and well-prepared in marketing and communication and actual football preparation. It's incredible.
This program is an embarrassment to any institution that has high standards.

Yeah and the coaches are probably coaching him up but when your in Highschool and all you had to do was rush off the edge and use your athleticism how much thinking does that take? You have to be somewhat smart to play linebacker especially in college/ pros

Along with the measurables getting a well coached kid is so important. It speeds up the process on how fast a kid can get on the field. That’s why getting studs from private schools are smart kids academically is huge because they can grasps concepts quicker than the kids who get a poor inner city education but if the coaches in the inner city know football well it helps a lot

The fact we were even in the spot to be depending on a walk-on is and indictment against Manny and his shoddy recruiting the last few years at a position of need. GT was working Ragon once he came in the game.

Lord help us,Manny and his terrible crew gotta go

Lol they definitely were they were finding him and running his way. But we all knew depth was an issue their moreover we had two inside backers hurt going in to the season in ( steed and Joyner ). Injuries happen unfortunately.

It’s not a matter of hype. If you can’t take a guy with Brooks’s physical gifts and toughness and make him better than Ragu then you suck as a coach.

I can’t give any deference to this clown *** staff. Just because they think Ragu is a better option than Brooks doesn’t make it true. They also thought Patchan was better than Rousseau.

Of course if you simplify assignments and responsibilities for Brooks and let him just have a gap to run and hit he would be an upgrade over the existing scheme and incumbent guys even beyond "Ragu". That says more about how awful 55/56 have been in this dreadful scheme than anything else though. Some of these run plays it looks like the parting of the Red Sea with DTs slanting out of their gap and LBs flying in wrong directions leaving gigantic cutback lanes. If tackling wasn't such a priority with our DBs these plays would be going 50+ yards routinely.

The reality is if a 4th year starter LBs can't execute this needlessly complex scheme then Brooks doesn't stand a chance. The amount of (unnecessary) slanting, stunting and awkward alignments Diaz/Baker employ makes it impossible for a young LB to play without constant thinking and frequent mental errors.

Here’s some analytics Diaz... your 3-4!

Friggin won’t play his playmakers cause of whatever crap metrics they are using in PRACTICE... NOT A GAME! It’s beyond ridiculous how pathetic the staff has been so far.
