Safeties and linebackers

Wes and Toure bring the lumber - most physical set of LBs we’ve had since…..???

Only flaw in their game is that they are very average in pass coverage .
Agreed on both points. TE’s can do some damage against us and Pittman was pretty good. If we play a team with a good QB and good TE, we could have some real trouble.

Definitely above average…

But Mo T gotta be better with his eyes cos he’s been beat by RB’s on few wheel routes
Was it Mo or Wes who was beaten on the 1st possession. I thought it was Mo but he did also have an RB to account for in the flat. Either way, one of them should have had the RB in the flat and the other open the RB on the wheel route.

Development is what I see! Also, I think the 4th quarter is the first time this year our defense got a little tired. It’s understandable dealing with a scrambling quarterback and a fast pace offense.
And, also the offense not doing anything for over an entire quarter.

Exactly…

I thought it was Mo but definitely could’ve been Wes…

Either way LBs been good but gotta clean that up

This got me thinking, as bad as he was. I think Zaquan could’ve flourished in a Jakobe type role under Hetherman. Unfortunately kid couldn’t get out of his own way tho

Am blown away by Thomas. Beyond all the obvious plays from Saturday, the fumble he forced on Robinson just before the half was a great play. We recover that if Lucas fell on the ball instead of signaling that we had possession. Would have been at least 3 more points before half.

Poyser is night and day from ND. He was superb against FSU. The forced fumble was a tremendous play. It's a shame we got the motion penalty and didn't get any points off of it. He made one play early in the game when the Oompa Loompa got loose, looked like he was shot out of a cannon and got him to the ground in the open field. EDIT: I might be thinking of this play: https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/7-on-d-poyser.200725/post-7899316 he made on the reverse

Fitz is the Chris Carter of Safeties - All he does is catch INTs. Nuff said.

LBers have been good. Wes is playing well and Toure is a terror playing downhill. Gus got us with a pretty neat play on the long pass to #13 on the first drive. Other than that I thought they did a pretty good job against a tricky opponent. Hopefully we get to see what Popo, Wiley, Washington (if he's healthy), and Bonner can do with extended snaps if we can put a few ACC teams away by the end of 3rd.

I want to see what we have with Bonner and alderman. If they can provide quality plays in a pinch. Just me being greedy for depth

Gotta think Alderman probably just finishing out his career.

Bonner we may hear from as year progresses or in future.

I know it took MC a while but it seems like Hetherman was a genius hire. The guy seems to have simplified the scheme and is just letting guys play to their strengths.

I agree just wanted to see how others looked after some of our lbs have played amazing under hetherman.

In addition as many had pointed out it would be nice to phase them in for rotations. Some of these snap counts are too high.

Just finished Lance’s write-up. It was Mo, he followed the wrong RB leaving the wheel open. A little trickery got him. This has happened a few times now though with him in coverage.
