Saban disciples

I keep hearing that MC learned the Saban formula and will turn this program around. So Other than Kirby what disciple has turned a program around? And what makes MC so special that he will figure it out where other haven’t?

Bigger question; why are we working overtime to sh*t in people's salads and to tear down a coaching staff after five games, when this program has been a complete ABORTION for 16 years; Mario now the third head coach in five years and six over the past 17 seasons.

Top-notch recruiting has always been the key to success at Miami; getting the right guys, the best guys for the program, the right-fit guys, knowing how to build a roster and then getting the kids to respond. Jimmy did it phenomenally, as did his protegé Butch Davis.

Mario can recruit and he was on to something at Oregon before he left. What-say we give Miami's best coaching option in 20 years (Richt was well over the hill when he showed up) a little time to riddle-solve here.

The fans taking out 20 years of frustration on a new coach, and placing these win-immediately expectations on him are why some of y'all are SO let down right now.

Beat Virginia Tech and then focus on Duke. Seven one-game seasons remain this fall. Let's watch and see if this team improves as the games roll on, as crying the blues over the past three losses solves nothing.

Program has been an abortion so we know when we got a b*tch pregnant again.

I wouldn’t really call Kiffin a Saban disciple. He had been hired and fired from a couple of big time gigs before working for Saban. I’m pretty sure being around Saban taught him how to properly run a big program, tho.
Similar to Mario. Mario had plenty of experience before Saban. Saban just propelled him to another level.

Just because a coach spends time working under Saban and learning the ‘Bama Way’ doesn’t guarantee he will succeed. One can take the same principals but it isn’t happening if you don‘t have similar resources, support, and most of all, the ability to acquire talent. Kirby Smart does. Others don’t.

How many of Bellichik’s assistants have succeeded as NFL HCs? Even as consistent playoff teams, let alone won a SB? Any one? The ‘Patriot Way’ works for Bellichik.

Bill Bellichik, Saban’s mentor and Bill Parcells disciple.

@Saltycane

Jimbo Fisher.

FSU's records the 4 years prior to Jimbo Fisher's arrival:

7-6
9-4
7-6

FSU's record during Jimbo Fisher's first 4 years:

10-4
9-4
12-2
14-0 (national title)

UM's record the 4 years prior to Mario's arrival:

7-5
8-3
6-7
7-6
That 2017 season was fools gold and we still lost to Pitt.

We were 24 hours from being #1 at least for a short period.

2017 was more than four years ago. lol

And I think the 2017 was legit. The defense was solid. The Pitt game was a set up. I actually predicted that loss as soon as they announced the noon start. A road game with a noon start the day after Thanksgiving is super tough to win. If we get a night game at Pitt that day, I think we win that game easily.

That's just my 3.4 cents. (adjusted for inflation :)- )

Kiffin and Sarkisian are not Saban "Tree" guys. Those guys just pit stopped there for a quick job, they were already elite level coaches in their own right and did not need Saban to "Teach them how to coach". That's ridiculous.

All this 'Saban' stuff is incredibly overrated and mostly a media myth/product.

Is Mario really a Saban disciple? I’m sure he learned a lot there but I don’t classify someone who had 14 years of coaching experience and a head coaching job before arriving in Alabama as a disciple.
According to Mario, yes.

He said he's worked under good coaches but learned more under Saban on how to run a program than all his other experience combined. Never been shy about Nicky Da Gaww impact on his coaching career.

Show me where he said that....

Top notch innovative coaches has always been the key to success at Miami. When Miami got away from hiring innovative coaches, they got away from winning. It's no wonder that the only real semi decent year Miami has had in 20 years was when Richt was here....an old tired semi-retired former innovative offensive coach.

Miami has suffered from making LAZY CHEAP HIRES over the last 20 years, trying to "Stay within the program" and that rarely if ever works. Coker, Shannon....they reached for Golden, then a tired old Richt, and now Mario. Even Butch Davis was a former Miami guy. Miami has been LAZY AND CHEAP AS ****. They just spent the BANK on another lazy easy hire to bring in another former player/coach, to coach. LOL It's all kind of nuts when you think about it.

Butch was removed from UM for 7yrs before coming back with 2 SB Rings on his hand. Cheap hire isn't the word...but within 5yrs he did something no other coach in NCAA History was able to do.
Coker
Shannon
Golden
Richt
Diaz
Mario ALL (except Shannon) made considerably more than him. That tells you all you need to know.

one has to wonder just how much of mario's success at oregon had to do with the PAC

who was his biggest competition his time there? Utah?

That guy on the right was pretty **** good.
And Butch was the guy on the right Go to guy in ref to recruiting. Think about this for a second....
Butch put more kids into the 1st round of the NFL Draft than Howard, JJ and Erickson combined...That's kind of staggering to be able to do that under sanctions...and if not for Butchs closing on most of the kids from 84-88, it'd be even more ridiculous...
It was Saban who came to UM Multiple times to get pointers from Butch in the 90s...Not the other way around. And did it again 3yrs ago while Butch was at FIU....
