Golden's coaching for his life, not time to be sentimental, even if the kid deserves a start.
 
Its senior day. And we're playing weakass Pitt. Ryan Williams should get AT LEAST the entire first half.


At least that's my opinion.
 
I feel that sentiment too, but this is big time college football and this is at least part of the reason UM is 6-5. Has anyone seen anything that would lead you to conclude that Sunny Odagwu belongs on the field with a UM uniform on? He's probably a great kid and tries hard. ****, he might even be real funny. And maybe real nice. But a player for the University of Miami, um, no.

Saban does not play this kid. It's cruel. It might be mean. But it is what it is.

Fentress also deserves to start every game.
 
You guys are missing the point. Its very typical for every college coach to start the non-starting seniors who've been in the program their entire career on senior day. If its a big game then you only give them one or two series, if its a bull**** game, like for example... a 6-5 team playing a 5-6 team at him to close out the regular season then you give them more playing time. Im simply stating that Ryan Williams should get this entire game. His loyalty to the program has earned it IMO.

Yea they usually do start those seniors but its different when its a QB
 
How about a medical redshirt for this guy who would be a valuable backup and has zero shot at a pro career? Is that even feasible?

Based on a thread I read on canes time premium, no. Ryan Williams is not eligible for a medical redshirt.

That was also cemented when golden had him take two or three snaps in a mop up game earlier in the season. Cincy game maybe.

For real, we just lost to a 4 win UVA and this guy is talking about sitting our all ACC QB cause he wants to be sentimental. I'm sorry williams got a bad break but that's how football goes sometimes.

Please don't let the current situation cloud things that are normal. This is a very common thing. Jimmy Johnson gave Geoff Torretta the start on senior day and Vinnie was also a senior.

Saturday is not "future day," it's senior day. It will be the last time that the seniors will ever take the field. I for one, hope that Ryan Williams gets at least the entire first half, if not the whole game.

To me, Al not doing this tells me that he is more lost than we realize. This team is plenty good enough to win this game with Ryan Williams at QB.
