In an article on CS Al Golden said Ryan is redshirting. If this is true, that will be huge for QB depth in 2015.

Ryan is done playing football. He has said it numerous times. this is his last year at UM
 
Good for depth but unless he's thinking rolling that into a grad asst position and trying coaching, he ain't sticking around to continue to send in signals from the side when he thought this was going to be his year.
 
Whatever RW decides to do, huge props to him. Been nothing but a team player his entire time here. I have little doubt that he can take some credit for the development we've seen from Kaaya, and I'd love to see him stick around in a coaching capacity. True Cane!
 
I definitely feel bad for the kid.

He would have started this year if he hadn't messed up his knee.

Granted, who would have thought Kaaya would become the beast that he is?

Ryan should transfer to a 1-AA school or a mid-tier D1 program and start at least one year so he can get some exposure.
 
Hopefully he gets a medical redshift and can transfer somewhere. I'd love to see him at a place like South Car, Texas or Michigan.

I'd love to have him next year and redshirt Lawson. Side note, Heaps seems like the man. Always talking on the sideline, super engaged and great energy. That kid was a great find, I think he's been instrumental in training Kaaya.

Actually he should probably get his degree, move on to a job bc he has a young child. He isn't pro material.
 
God Bless him! He has been so unselfish and a team player. Will always be a part of this family.
 
Honestly as much as it sucks that he got hurt, if he is smart he will take the Julian Gamble route and get his Master's, whether it be at Miami as a back-up or grad assistant, or somewhere else as the starting QB. Tons of programs would be happy to have him.
 
Ryan Williams should take the redshirt year for 2014 and use the 2015 year to finish his masters degree, next year UM will be blowing teams out so Kaaya will be done by the middle of the 3rd quarter, so that leaves a quarter and a half for Williams to get in a play some downs. This will allow him to put together some game film that will allow him to at least sign a NFL Free Agent contract for the league minimum of $300K which is a **** of a lot more than some 9-5'er $65K starting salary. Than after few years in as a NFL back up he can go into coaching.

Right now his pride may be hurt but looking at it long term staying another year at UM pays huge dividends. Not to mention it will allow UM to redshirt 2015 QB Dwayne Lawson. Current UM redshirt QB Malik Rosier is still raw an needs another year or two before he is ready.

Didnt he play a down or two this year? Yes im fully aware of Jake Heaps but I do remember Ryan getting in. If so he wont get a redshirt.

He did play. So no automatic RS, and it would be next to impossible to get a 6th year because he played this year. I'm pretty sure he already took a RS when he transferred here, so he's done.

He did take a Redshirt his first year here, but has not played a down this year. Jake Heaps has taken all of the back up snaps. Ryan will be eligible for a 6th year Med. RS.

^^This. Having a master's degree from UM will pay dividends in the long term.

Well, UM has reported to the NCAA in their participation reports that he played in 2 games. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but that's what the NCAA has.
