Ryan Rodriquez

He only started game 1 because McCoy got hurt in fall camp. They got McCoy in game pretty fast vs. UF, and I thought RR was the worst OL for Miami in that game.

That isnt saying he cant be a starter in some capacity over next 2 years, but I think his best position is C.
They would have moved him to center already if they thought that was his money position. They’ve brought in senior transfers 3 years in a row now at center. I thought he looked solid against Florida, unfortunately he was banged up the rest of the year.

I think he would’ve been our center this year if not for the injury.

Do you know how many years of eligibility he has? I think technically he should still have 3 years available to him (including this season) if he received medical redshirts.
2021 regular redshirt, 2022 medical redshirt, 2023 played, 2024 Medical redshirt, So should be entering his 2nd/4 years of eligible play...
I mean I think worst case scenario (for him) he only has 2 years eligilbe. Which if the staff likes him as much as everyone says I absolutely see him being the starting Center next year. So we finally wont take a portal Center. Because itll be him or SJ at Starting Center.

This year:
LT - Bell / Okunlola
LG - McCoy or Rodriguez / Kinsler / Minaya
C - Brockermeyer / Rodriguez / SJ or Francavilla
RG - Cooper / Rodriguez / Kinsler / Buchanan
RT - Mauigoa / Kinsler / Plazz

Next year:
LT - Okunlola / Ervin
LG - McCoy / Minaya
C - Rodriguez / SJ / Fancavilla
RG - Kinsler or Buchanan or portal /
RT - Cantwell /

I think Ryan is a solid player, good depth piece with some C/G veratility, but he isn't better than McCoy at LG.

McCoy is like 6'7 340 just an athletic monster.
I think your obsessing over McCoy's size. Play the player that gives you the best chance at winning. Size isn't everything. Maybe Rodriguez misses less of his assignments or has better technique. The coaches would know better than us on this.

Gotta trust the coaches.

I want to believe the people who say this, but how is it possible for him still to have 2 years of eligibility? He will need to get a waiver, right? This (2025) is his 5th year in the program.
2022 he didnt play one game....that likely is a med redshirt year. he shirted in, 2021. Then last year only played one game he is gonna easily get a med waiver
