Ryan Day tests positive for Covid today

It would be sweet if Ohio State was ineligible for the playoffs. Between that and Penn State being 0-5, Covid is karma coming after the Big 10.

Ohio state gets in the playoff as the 4 seed whether they play another game or not. They were anointed before they ever stepped on the field this season.

This is a huge story. They are essentially one more cancellation from missing the playoffs if you assume they need to win the big10 CG to make the playoffs which I think most people do.

Maybe Harbaugh could finally “beat” Ohio state by getting that game canceled and ending their playoff hopes.

I’m not so sure if 5-0 and no conf championship will be enough. It makes things interesting for Northwestern though

There is no more sure bet right now than OSU in the playoffs. If life/college football was right/fair that would not be true, but alas....

Does anyone actually believe they aren't a top 4 team, regardless of games played?
At some point you have to prove it on the field and sometimes Syracuse beats Clemson, and sometimes you have some attrition through injuries, and sometimes teams are not as good as they project to be.

you play the games for a reason and you can’t reward a team based on potential.

Right now, yes. If they have another cancellation, I’d say they will be on the outside looking in.

this is what my fear is. The only reason the BIG even tried to have a season was to get OSU into the playoff and possible championship. They could not ply another game and somehow back their way in.

With the strict 21 day protocol they have in the BIG and the potential “outbreak” OSU has. It might be the end of their season.

As of today, their facility is closed for 10 days - that means reopening the Tuesday before the Michigan game , Dec.8th. There were more positive tests yesterday from the Friday test. They will almost certainly miss not only this week vs. Illinois but next week vs. MSU as well. due to the 21 day protocol in the Big 10. This means the max number of games OSU plays is likely 5....

The minimum games played to qualify for Big 10 Championship is approx. 6. It was just said on Game Day that the Big 10 office said that for that number to change, based on the way it is calculated, 12 of the next 14 Big 10 games would have to be cancelled.

It could be Northwestern vs Indiana in the Big 10 Championship. What does that mean for the CFP spots? What if Northwestern is the undefeated champion of the Big 10? If the other conferences - SEC and ACC most likely- have teams that play 10+ games, how do you justify including Ohio State with 5 games? The CFP committee came out yesterday and said there are no game requirements to be considered. Seems like groundwork already being laid here....

Also, IF OSU plays and beats Michigan, and Wisconsin wins out, they could play each other in the "2" game on Dec. 19th. OSU could finish with 6 wins if they play and win that game...

I can't stand OSU, but even had they not played this year I would've believed they were a top four team.

I get what you're saying, but where do you draw the line? 5 games? 6? 7? That's arbitrary to me. We'll have played more than they will if they never played another regular season game. If we win out, I would still expect them to Clemson us.
