Rumph to UM

Then he's a sap bc those dudes apparently have no interest in coming. When Richt wanted Sony, Rumph delivered. Now that Rumph has his cushy gig, what incentive does he have to deliver? Also, it's hard to deliver when you aren't paying dudes and your program is in the ****ter. Richt will find that harsh fact out very very soon, that it's not as easy to recruit here as when you have 50 bagmen boosters.

Agree totally that you don't need the salesmen/recruiter type coaches at UM. Win. That and the city sells itself. But to win we need guys here who can coach the game. Hopefully Rumph can do that, but it would have been nice to get a DB coach with a track record.

He'll do great, and hes a richt kinda guy. While he was still playing he would put on little league camps in palm beach. I went to one and he would come out and talk to us and throw the ball around. He seemed like he cared and had fun, and he certainly didnt have to do it. I think he really cares about the kids and thats why he went the HS route instead of bigger money.

I don't think we do know. That's the question mark. He might be a homerun hire. He also might not know how to teach the position. Since he doesn't have a track record coaching DB's we won't know til he has been here a year or two. I don't see where anybody could evaluate this as a good or a bad hire.

There are over 100 FBS DB coaches. We hired a guy who has never done it before on this level, on a team that has had horrific defense for half a decade, and a guy who steered kids away from his own alma mater, and who now seemingly won't even be able to get his own players to come to UM.

I would be totally against hiring him if he actually steered kids to play under the ****pile of coaching we have had here for the last 4 years.

The guy actually has character and didn't pimp his kids to Miami for a job. In fact, he was the most vocal anti Golden coach in SFLA . That's a huge plus in my book.

It's called character....you would have no clue about that.

The anti Lice Harris who openly blackmailed Golden into a job.

PS...Don't tell me he pushed kids to Georgia because he knew Richt would eventually get the Miami job and hire him.

Everyone gets all bent out of shape on this **** site.

My opinion is that Richt is paying top dollar to a lot of assistants and needed a way to save some money on a part of the staff. He went low risk / high reward with a guy like Rumph. If he doesn't see results in a couple years he will just replace him. We are spending a lot on staff, but maybe there isn't enough in the pot to fill every position with top dollar guys. Just give it some time.

I disagree with you there, the kid has a elite burst off the edge, had a really good senior year, so you dont want wilson, campbell, slaton, bryan????
