An interesting hire.
You guys need to give him a break.
Someone quoted Chad Morris in this thread, I can't find it.
Chad Morris coached in HS as a HC from 1994-2009. Then he went to Tulsa.
Does anyone see a difference?
Two inexperienced guys coaching DBs. Yikes.

Our D has been giving people a lot of breaks over the last five years.
Kids respect a guy that have played the game (especially his position) at a high level. This guy starred at UM, was a high draft pick, he played for a long time in the NFL(Corner and Safety), and he's been coaching HS for a while. A man with those credentials has instant credibility with players and recruits. When you played the game at a high level for a long time, teaching technique is easy - it's **** near second nature. Rumph will be fine.
He obviously showed enough competence in his interview to earn the position. If Richt were a new HC without much experience I'd be concerned, but I have no concerns if a guy that's been a HC for 15 years at a power 5 school hires a guy like Rumph.
HS coaches make a successful jump to college all the time. Ty Detmer was just hired as OC for BYU and he was a high school coach in Austin TX last year.

Yeah one is coordinating an entire offense. The other is coaching CBs.
And it begins. I can see people on this board calling for Richt's head before the end of season 1.
HC - M Richt
QB - J Richt
RB - Brown
TE - ?
WR - ?
OL - Searels
DL - Kuligowski
DC/LB - Diaz
ST/Safeties - Hartley
CB - Rumph
CB coach, according to Pete.
so he's here as a recruiter and to learn under whoever is hired as db coach. works for me.
Yeah, i'm ok with it
I'm curious to who is going to coach Safeties...
