He may be the db coach but if that was the case why didn't he say it in the tweet? Just because ice didn't do anything doesn't mean everybody else will fail. Beard wasn't bad this past season.

He will probably be filing papers and stapling letters to recruits. With Ward on the table, among others, Richt hiring Rumph for DB coach would be his biggest head scratcher.

If it is as the db coach, how do you know it is a bad hire? You don't know how he would do as a coach. He might be great nobody knows.

If he's not the DB coach, I could care less. Nothing indicates he will be other than the position he played ball. Kul played OL, for instance. But until we know what's happening for certain, LET US RAAAAAAAAGE.

I figured the next DC would have some input to the staff on the defensive side. Richt had been pretty much sticking to hires on offense (other than Kool). Important that Diaz gets guys he is comfortable with and has some experience with his system, imo.

Why do some of you "hope" he won't be hired for DB coach? I am confused
This guy played at a high level UM, and he played Corner AND Safety in the NFL for a long time. He understands the game and the nuances of playing the position as well as anyone. He can coach technique at a high level, so I am baffled why some won't like this hire.. He is exactly the kind of man you want coaching DB's.

All I'm saying is that I would have felt more comfortable with a proven college DB coach.

I'm not a fan of these former players jumping right to UM as position coaches. They need to cut their teeth elsewhere (like FAU or FIU) and earn their way to big time college ball. Rumph as DB coach is a weak hire and we should all be disappointed.
