Rumours about Chip Kelly to UF

Good hire for Miami. Boring *** egotistical old man who specializes in a gimmick offense, doesn’t seem much different from their last hire. This guy has a small window of success in the pac 12 after inheriting another coaches team(think coker winning with butch davis talent). Name me one Pac 12 coach that has ever gone from the west coast and had success in the ACC or SEC schools? Lane Kiffin is the closest one and he is now the coach at FAU. lol. How does a guy who has caused NCAA issues at another college get complelty off the hook because he bolted for the nfl. Great promotion for any coach that gets caught cheating get out before it gets too bad and all will be forgotten.

Chip kelly brought his offense to the nfl and it was exposed. Guess what all these highschool kids dreams are to one day play in the NFL. What player or parent could seriously sit in a room with Richt(hurricane jesus) and see his resume then sit in a room with this pompous ******* with his tract record and personality. Other then Marcus Mariotta Ed ****son Jonathan Stewart and Lagarette Blount can you name another player who he coached in the NFL because i can't(maybe lamichael james and deanthony thomas but who knows if they still play). Irregardless no high end prospect is going to go play for a guy with no successful connection to the nfl whether it be when he coached there or the lack of developed nfl talent at his previous job.

Chip Kelly is a bigger named 2017 version of Mike Leach. Weird, terrible recruitng, offensive genius whose teams dont play defense and players usually dont like to play for them. He couldnt handle NFL egos and talent(why he traded phillys best player). Wait till he is dealing with 17 year old Florida egosand has to deal wit their parents. Like leach wouldnt be surprised if he has a kid locked in a closet in the next couple years.

If you think this is a good hire I'm sure you were the same guys living in the past begging for butch davis or wanting chip kelly. I would interview/hire Charlie Strong, Scott Frost, Lane Kiffin, Dan Mullen, and 100 others before i hired chip kelly as my HEAD COACH. He would have set Miami back five years thnk God we dodged that bullet got richt and now this Mike leach wanna be will set back florida and keep them out of our recruiting grounds for top kids.

This hire saves their recruiting season, I think its a great one. Ultimately, we wont know how good UF will be with him at the helm. Maybe his schtick wont work where most defenses are fast and savage, but then maybe with Florida athletes, his system becomes something spectacular. It remains to be seen. The potential upside is tremendous. FSU should be scared.

Chip Kelly was 46-7 in his first 4 years.

Larry Coker was 44-6 in his first 4 years.

Coker never coached in the NFL. Kelly had some success there and it's not like he can't evolve as a coach the same way a guy like Tom Osbourne did. He can get better defensively and his offense is already dynamic. Isn't like he's unbeatable either way. Bottom line is Kelly is a better coach than Coker who cares what their first 4 year records look like.

My same media source, that broke the Shark lover firing, confirmed Kelly is going to UF on a 6 year deal. He’s going to have large funds to hire assistants and be able to offer heavy incentives.

I have no idea how UF is able to afford 2 buyouts and this but here it is. Don’t kill the messenger.

Was it the same "source" that counted 15,000 notre dame fans at Hard Rock Saturday night?

I was there, i'd be surprised if it was more than 5k.

The allotment was 5k alone. You’re all nuts if you believe there wasn’t at least double that amount. There’s a reason why the tickets for Vtech went for crap vs ND going for more than season seat. Use your common sense. There’s a ND club of UM that ALSO had a section. Thousands of seats sold on stub hub and craigslist went to ND fans on top of that.

100% chance it wasn't 15%. I'll stick by that.

Lmao.

A lot of denial in this thread. This guy barely lost at Oregon and made them household names. It crumbled after he left there. A speed based offense in Florida could kill it, I've been waiting to see what an offense like this can do with Florida kids. Things are about to get pretty competitive in Florida now. Reminds me of the days of Bobby, Spurrier and Butch. Who ruled the state then?

I can agree with this. I was a die hard pro style guy but a few years back I was convinced Miami needs to add spread elements to it's game, if not go to the spread entirely period. This was around the time denard Robinson was running wild at Michigan. With the athletes and speed down here dam. A real Miami coach will always have a good/great defense. If the offense ran the spread shhhhhit. Real Miami players and coaches ain't going a be scared of this guy but that don't mean he can't do some damage.

It will be interesting to see how big his buyout is. I hope it’s huge. Like Jimbo $40 million huge. So when his gimmick offense doesn’t work in the SEC, they are still stuck with his fat *** for five or six years. He is going to absolutely flop at UF and we as Canes fans will have many more Gator tears to laugh at.

No matter what anyone says he cant recruit and u have to be able to recruit because some SEC Dlines will eat chip kellys offense, if he cant control the LOS his offense wont work

There is absolutely nothing official yet about him being hired. In fact, there's nothing official about him even being contacted by UF. I'd be absolutely shocked if they hire anyone before kicking the tires on Scott Frost.

Smells Jon Grudenish to me.

If its a done deal, you introduce him as quickly as possible to salvage a recruiting class.

Wtf are you talking about? The only people in denial are the Kelly **** slobberers. everyone knew about Oregon, they went 12-1 a year or two before he even got there ffs. I know it must hurt to acknowledge this but kelly didn't invent offensive football.

Notorious lazy recruiter. Also, he coaches heavy for his scheme. His classes, if he forces himself to take high rated players for the fvck of it, will end up being poor in hindsight.

With that said, his scheme will work in the SEC against most other teams but the best, but...he'll end up hiring like Aliotti out of retirement or some **** as his DC and it'll be the same ol soft Oregon team just expanded over a 12 game season in the SEC. Look @ Kevin Sumlin at aTm to get an idea of what I think Kelly's stay in Gainesville will look like.

It would be a good hire by them, but the way Florida has been playing lately they would be smart to invest in a defensive minded coach not named Randy Shannon.

If you would play for chip kelly over Mark Richt I question your judgement and or character as a human being. Once again mike leach 2.0 worst hire since Texas hired Charlie strong(actually think strong is a great coach just a square peg trying to fit in a round hole him at Texas).

So everyone who thinks Kelly is a good coach is a **** slobber? He was 46-7 at Oregon. He had less losses in 4 years than Bellotti had in his last two years in Oregon; and the program went to **** after he left. He was a forward thinker and innovator to the highest degree. To say the guy is a great coach isn't saying that Miami's ****ed and that we should all hide. But it would be a **** good hire and 100% worth the risk. And Oregon lost 1 game about a decade before Kelly got there, and they were hardly a household name. Albeit Nike helped that, but winning at a high level each year Kelly was there did more than anything.
