Ruiz family attempting to build a stadium in Coral Gables...

Oh, man, you didn't need a new post to show me how absolutely stupid people can be, you could have just screenshot a randome CIS thread...

I really loved the variety of options at UNC. Clearly, if we built an on-campus/near-campus stadium, tailgating would evolve, it would not be identical to what we now have at Hard Rock.
Eh depending on where you tailgate it can be quite a haul uphill.

So you're going from Palm Beach, through Broward, into Dade, and you are crying about another 13 miles?

Stay home.

And before you start whining, I drive from Orlando.
Good for you, but those 13miles to CG is ****. Ever go to a Bb game on campus, traffic is BS. Add another 40k yeah it’s all good . Maybe we need the infrastructure money to widen US 1.

I am including that, but it is not essential. If you look at a map, I am referring to the 11 blocks north of Flagler, between 37th and 42nd.

Does not "HAVE TO" include Magic City Casino, but yes, in that general direction...

And my #1 preferred site is the dirt mall immediately north of Magic City Casino.
This is a very interesting site with Highway access and very close to Mas’s freedom park. That was my local crappy Kmart back in the days.

I only included the parking as I know it.
I can't post the imaging footprint from here at home.

I checked out TCU's 50,000 seat stadium footprint.
The stadium and immediate parking is 50 acres. A little more doable.
Although I am sure they were able to count the campus periphery parking to comply with parking calc's.

I would love to see it but I deal with this stuff on a smaller scale all the time.

He’s not thinking clearly, the city and neighborhoods east and west as well as north of it will fight like ****. I live west of the stadium and l can tell you we will fight like **** to shoot this down. It will destroy the quality of life around this monstrosity

Joined today.

All 5 posts are to trash the idea of a stadium at CGHS.

Seems legit.

***** it. Buy rhe Biltmore golf course and build the **** stadium. Bitmore is old and although a landmark it sucks as a hotel. now that a billionaire is behind this he can buy the **** Bilumbre and make more money on a stadium.

‘No” is an opening offer. You don’t become a billionaire by accepting status quo. Play the long game.

Create options and win states. Execute relentlessly.

the family that owns magic city casino are old-time supports of the U and the football program. however, the buyout of the casino is likely to be economically unfeasible.

if anything, the best place to build a new stadium is next to the existing marlins stadium. beckham and the mas brothers considered it but they could not assemble the land and they also thought there was bad ju ju after knocking down the old orange bowl. see pic View attachment 165471
The owners of Magic City are a little more than old time supporters of UM athletics… it’s the same family/related to the Hecht’s (yes those Hecht’s).

Reading through all of these comments, I can say one thing: Apparently our fanbase hasn't paid attention to the ultimate case study in "If you play on campus, the fans will show up", which is the Miami basketball program. Miami has played on campus for almost 20 years, and despite L having some good runs, the attendance isn't that much different than it was in the old Miami Arena. In fact, it's been hilarous to watch as even when L had the program rolling, the ONLY time anyone gave a **** was when Duke or UNC or another ranked team came to town. Even in the magical 2012 season, you had times in which ACC games were sparsely attended, even though the team was extremely exciting.

I still remember years when Syracuse came to town, Miami was decent and the arena was at least 30% Cuse fans. I've lost count how many times UNC or Duke came, and we were outnumbered in our own **** arena and the team wasn't even awful, just mediocre. Unless you can guarantee that Miami is consistently playing Top 25 teams week in and week out, AND Miami is nationally relevant, there's no way in **** you won't see similar attendance trends. Ruiz wants to spend that money, that's on him, but let's cut out the nonsense about this fanbase doing something they didn't even do during the "Decade of Dominance". Playing on campus is a dream scenario cooked up by fans that don't know a **** thing about the University and nouveau rich boosters that most likely want to jack up the value on land they own.

Put a competent product on the field and hard rock will be just fine. Loudest venue in the country when we’re rolling.

Put that money towards support staff and other facilities.

Pretty easy to say when you're not the one inviting recruits to a mostly-empty stadium as we try to compete with everyone else without the problem for the same signatures.

Optics are very important to teenagers and the cart's not necessarily ever going to come before the horse.

Uhhh the one thing the recruits always say is how Awesome Hard Rock is and how exciting it would be to play in an NFL stadium.

So there goes that theory.

Yeah City of Coral Gables isn't letting that happen. Better odds of trying to go down the street and have it in South Miami or work with Inter Miami to help build Miami Freedom Park by Miami International.

"In the United States, NFPA 88A is the most widely used standard for parking structures. Generally speaking, the document does not require sprinklers in parking structures that are considered to be open—meaning they have a minimum amount of natural ventilation on at least two sides. Underground parking garages, or those wrapped or covered on three or more sides, are considered closed garages and require sprinkler protection."

Tailgaters and intoxicants are not the main issue, plastics are....Not sure about a lot of apperatus being able to traverseparking garage's now. What is the level of risk Miami Dade fire will accept?
Wouldn't grills and smokers be a non starter?
