Ruiz addresses Shalala

If Ruiz would have posted that here, his thread would have been locked and all the Shalala apologists would attack him. 💯

Shalala was and is a Clinton hack. She cared about one thing - money.

Thank goodness her hires are getting purged.
don't hold back. she is worse than what you say.

she and Manny Diaz Sr., among others, are responsible for the destruction of the orange bowl, which tore and dissolve the soul of the football program.

Now check where academics were when Dahhhhna arrived in Coral Gables. She did nothing on that front aside from tank the law school and preside over fluctuations in arts & sciences that ended up averaging us being right around 50th....where we were when she arrived.

I guess the Business School rising under Dean Barb Kahn doesn't count because it's not CAS? When my child started in 2007, UM was #51 and the year after they graduated it was #38. Now an seasoned alum, my child bemoans how Miami is "not known for anything" right now amongst top firm recruiters and how all the momentum (no pun intended) in fundraising and high standards was lost (Sour grapes? No, they have a financial management position in a world Top 5 company you all know).

USNWR ranking is two things, no matter how they say they tweak it for "equity..." $$$$ and incoming freshman stats, selectivity (admission rates) and yield. I know FIRST HAND how Frenk took the Admissins team from the Shalala years and let it die on the vine, lowering standards for more student $$$ because no matter how close he was supposed to be to Carlos Slim, Frenk couldn't or wouldn't fundraise (funny, another area now of interest to him, hmmm). Overall lower incoming student achievement coupled with no $$$ equals even O$UCK football factory passing the U by and Miami tied with Free Shoes U.

Donna did a bunch of things wrong; heck, her picture looking at Nevin's check at the bowling alley lost a bunch or reputation score points in USNWR's survey. The Ceder's buy, the athletic department collapse, the union disputes. But to say she was all bad as being as disingenuous as the extreme politicized media we have which finds 100% fault with someone with either party because its not "their person" and the "narrative" says to do so.

Tropical park?
Some say not enough space but it’s 264 acres and those 2 buildings in the north side might be a problem I guess.

Gables high? It’s the gables

Hard rock? Too far from campus and so was the orange bowl.

I spoke about that new mall that their gonna build off of I-75 is gonna be the largest mall in America. I say piggy back on the sight and have a whole day experience.

But you want the ultimate nostalgia?!
You want to know what it was like to fight through traffic in an immigrant community and park at abuelas house?!! You want to wonder if your car will be there when you get back?
You want to buy fruit at the traffic light and see roosters and chickens crossing the road?
You want to see dead Santeria goat heads and chicken carcasses thrown out.
You want opposing teams and fans wondering what the Fck is this place??!!!!!

Hialeah Race track and casino!!!!
It already has a deal with the tribe.
Gonna have to deal with brunnetti jr.
It’s like the OB part 2

We shall see if this becomes the Brick and Mortar version of an "soon to be on sale" EV pickup...

yeah, plenty of land there, but same drive as hard rock. what's the advantage?

look, inter miami spent a long time and money trying to find a good place to build a stadium (a third of the size of hard rock) in the middle of the city. and the best they came up with was melreese park. there are no good options, only poor or bad options and all of the poor or bad options are not reasonable or feasible regardless of the amount of money.
And there's still no stadium there.

So why would Ruiz, whose MSP Recovery business model for his SPAC with Lionheart is Medicare/Medicaid claims wrongly paid want to tick off a former Democrat HHS Secretary when a Democrat Administration is in power? I get he has already bought $50 billion is "potentially suspect" claims, but what if you want more? Donna's lieutenants from long ago are now running HHS as Biden administration appointees:

You may need these people someday...I'm sure the former Israeli soldier partner at Lionheart knows this was a potentially strategic blunder.

interesting to read that Ruiz's money wasn't used at all in the pursuit or acquisition of Mario. so all he's done is form a nonsense committee over a stadium we don't need and tweet a bunch of bull****. great start, i can see why this board likes him. maybe he can start a committee to make sure the players get to choose their arm sleeve colors next?

I couldn't help but notice how respectful she was and how she wasnt optimistic about the community allowing a stadium built on that location. She also offered an alternative that sounds pretty good. That's called being helpful.

Ruiz showed a lot about who he is with his response. If money is out there then the site of the orange bowl is an option that should be explored. Doesn't mean he abandons his plan it just means he considers his options.

Frankly, Dr. Shalala's impact on Miami football has been overstated for years, by a bunch of fans that don't know a **** thing about the University and needed someone visible to blame. The Miami BOT allowed the program to rot, they could have easily stepped in and put Miami football back on equal footing with the competition, especially as the arms race heated up. I will say this, Dr. Shalala standing up for Randy Shannon and helping to get him hired was a mistake, but I could also see why she would prefer the Miami lifer over someone like Charlie Strong, who was an outsider(The rumors were that it was a 2 horse race between those two coming down the stretch)

That said, the entire "We're going to build a stadium thing" smells like typical BS from a potential con artist. I'm in favor of this guy spending money, but I wouldn't be shocked if something happens along the way. Something just doesn't seem right and I can't put my finger on it. I don't know why, but Ruiz has a lot of Trump in him and not in a good way. A nouveau rich dude that says outlandish, illogical crap and then goes after anyone that dares note how irrational and ridiculous it is. I'm willing to bet that there's a legit overlap between the people that support Ruiz's nonsense and the people that bought DJT's brand of BS.

The University of Miami program doesn't need to build a stadium, unless it's on campus(Impossible), or directly adjacent to(also extremely improbable). If you are building at Tropical Park or somewhere else, you are still playing off campus, it's still pointless. Frankly, Miami would be better off waiting for the Marlins to inevitably move(Eventually they are going to have to, they have lost the fanbase, and the new stadium sheen is wearing off), and taking back the OB site.
Ok Karen

Exactly. I don’t want a ****** college stadium with concrete and bleachers for seats. And newer stadiums, especially smaller ones like they want to build are erector set bleachers like UCF or FIU.
I remember some UCF Family members taking me to the site it was being built on in 2006 and I was remarked it looked like Space Mountain being constructed in 1975...Space Mountain's structure is for supporting an outer shell, not seats:

If UM cares about football stop being Stephen Ross's *****. And how about forget about that freaking 2017 ND game. Aren't we supposed to not get wet over a regular season win against a team that wasn't even that good? Good riddance to that place. If you're serious about really caring.

I hate them both. Not enough people talk about what a cancer Manny Sr has been.

The stadium lent itself to the noise and sense of occasion that game. Bouncy house basic stadium does not have the ammenities for a really big game in South Florida with the movers and shakers...
