Miami defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. He becomes the first Hurricane ever to win the conference’s top defensive award.

Bain’s conference honor continues an already decorated career for the Hurricanes. The true junior from Miami, Fla., burst onto the scene in 2023 when he was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, producing 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and three forced fumbles as a...

Our future first round pick, Bain, is clearly the Most dominant DE in college football, notwithstanding his stats. I was always impressed with how Bain held the edge and made it impossible for opposing offenses to have success running or passing to his side of the field. Opposing OCs always want to know where Bain is an account for him

This is a great message for college football players and his Canes teammates because the ACC is rewarding a player who plays DE the RIGHT WAY, and impacts team success over individual stats. This is also a great recruiting point for our gold-jacket wearing defensive end coach, Jason Taylor.

1st player to win it? How did Phillips not win it in 2020 or Rousseau in 2019?

But remember, he's the only one on our Dline not playing great 🤦🏾‍♂️

Anyway my vote would've been Mesidor or K.Scott

I remember when we got preseason wisdom from Tallahassee talk shows that he had regressed.

In 2020 in classic ACC fashion they gave DPOY to a Notre Dame LBer. Simmons from Clemson won it in 19
After I said it I remembered ND was in the conference in 2020 and when I looked I knew it would be the case

Well deserved-Hope he has a great NFL career.

Would love for him to be a Miami Dolphin-Unfortunately that won’t happen

I want him to succeed in the NFL. Maybe Dallas ? That's what I want. Unfortunately Titans in line for 1st pick. They may want Bain or Mauigoa

Isaiah Simmons won over GR. 107 tackles, 16 TFL, 7 sack, 3 Int, FR. Guy was on another planet

2020 they let a ND player Jeremiah Karamoah win it for the one year they were actually in the conference. Phillips wasn’t even 1st team ACC that year

Great points. Too often DE’s are only praised for sacks, and many just run up the field looking for sacks and leave their edge wide open for running plays. Bain was a monster against the run. Bain took on double teams and held the edge making it possible for LB’s to make tackles. Bain has been the consummate team player since day 1. He never took a play off, even on the last snap.

I would argue that he is the best DE at Miami since Ted Hendricks. And I would put Bain and Mesidor up against any DE combo at UM

And he has the most appropriate nickname of all time. Rueben “Hurricane” Bain.
