Certain emoji’s will still **** people off. I have no issue getting rid of reputation scores. I was able to get rid of the dumb emoji. I’ve tried to get rid of the and I’d get rid of the boring as well and move to a few basic ones. @Andrew ignores my pleas this far.

This reminds me of when last summer people were saying we didn't have as good of a DLine as Clemson, Ohio St, UGA, Oregon, etc....

Given what we knew at the time, they would have been right. We were hoping Scott play up to his ranking, Mesi/Bain would stay healthy, and Moten to be consistent. They weren't forgone conclusions prior to the season. Also, the schools you listed still had good D Lines they just weren't better than ours'.

pound for pound he held up well against the run when he was asked to though. Our 6th highest graded player in Run D last season. BUT he only played 68 total Run D Snaps. And 19 of them were against Stanford, the rest of the games were all <6 each. His worst graded Run D game was Indiana. But the good news with that is his 5 best graded pass rush games were SMU, UF, FSU, Indiana, and Ohio St....

It also may be cherry-picking but among ALL P4 EDGEs last year with 50+ RunD snaps, Lightfoot had the 6th highest Run Stop% at 11.8% with 8, and 11 tackles (again on his 68 RunD snaps) and 0 missed tackles. And he was 71st in RunD grade with a 74.5.... (for anyone wondering a Run Stop is a tackle that results in a fail out of the offense, so like 1st down tackle like <4 yards, 3rd down tackle that prevents a 1st down, etc).

And just for Bain/Mesidor Context there:
Mesidor = 3rd in RunD grade at 88.3, 14 Run Stops for 4.9%, 22 tackles and 6 missed tackles
Bain = 8th in RunD grade at 86.2, 23 Run Stops for 6.9%, 33 tackles and 5 missed tackles.

Damon Wilson had 3x more RunD snaps as Lightfoot and had only 6 tackles and 5 run Stops.....so....

My lord i will miss bain and mesi. 118 hurries and 150 pressures from just two players

I agree and the thing is say all of the projections turn out to be true. That still doesn’t guarantee our DEs will have the same impact as bain and mesi. They were that good

I think we will have a great year from our dline, and defense in general. I think that can be true and it still be understood that we won’t just replicate what two first round picks did

The dominance bain and Mes had will be duplicated by Moten & Scott on the interior. You don't replace a generational DE tandem , but Damon Wilson didn't just walk into 9 sacks at Mizzou he's an Elite end who honestly doesn't get enough credit for how well he actually plays the run. Lightfoot flashed all last season & has put on 20LBS and is at 240 now. Armando Blount Blunt & Keona Davis will also be **** setting the edge vs the run.

Ehh. A unit is exactly that. As dominant as reuben and Mesidore were they were able to achieve that ONLY ONCE our tackles matured. Yes both reuben and Mesidore were hurt season before last. They also were last year. Main difference was tackles stepped up. Damon would tell you himself before he got here the run game was a sore topic. Lightfoot the same and saying he flashed is fine but this is a very different circumstance this year. None of this is said as a way to question if we're capable. Of course we are. But it's a process & we ain't there just yet. Luckily we won't need to be till notre lame comes up.again not a negative. Just a fact

Bain & mes in 2024 had a terroist as their DC who had mes playing DT one play then dropping in coverage in another. Like you also said bain was hurt all 2024. The DTs weren't necessarily great when he dominated as freshman. Go watch Damon Wilson take on pullers vs the run last year. Dude absolutely stone walls them. Armoundo Blount was stout vs the run last year , keona davis who will be playing some end this year played like his hair was on fire vs the run in a defense that doesn't want their DL penetrating the LOS. Only end I'd really question in the run is Lightfoot and he's at 240 now. We have elite tackling LBs and the hardest hitter at CFB at Nickel. I have 0 worries about stopping the run.

No, they were wrong even at the time, and I said so - at the time.

Every team is hoping their players stay healthy, so that's an invalid point that applies to even the teams you think are better.
We weren't hoping Scott or Moten would play up to their potential with zero belief behind it. It wasn't asking for a hail mary to think they'd develop into what they became. Entering the season Scott, Moten, and Blay were absolutely one of the best DT trios in the country. Mesi and Bain were clearly one of the top EDGE units alone as well. And I'd argue that was by either actual Production OR talent!

So Yeah others had good/great Dlines, but the way people were talking was as if we weren't even in the same discussion entering the season all because Guidry had us stunting our Dline to failure 90% of snaps in 2024....

The fact is everyone always discounts our development, yet assumes it from the competitors like UGA, Ohio St, Bama, Michigan etc. Seriously Ohio St literally lost like their entire Dline to the draft in 24. Yet they were talked about as being more "proven" than our line entering last season, it was a joke. Clemson certainly had Parker and Woods.... other than that? eh. And As you will see I was absolutely defending Bain being better than both them, so once you add the rest of our dline talent I thought we were better ENTERING the season.

And here you go, literal proof that I said all this before last season. The idea the results that ended up taking place couldn't have been predicted is purely incorrect. As to this years Dline, There are just very specific questions regarding this years dline (run D), and Lowe being a douche and getting kicked off the team truly sucked....But we're clearly in the top tier that its all debateable who #1 is.

Brother, I am talking about the spots that we are lacking right now which is DT, LB, S, and WR. Ironically the same spots where we haven’t produced jack **** outside of Kinchens since these guys have been here and ironically his play fell in Y3 from Y2. I wonder what that is?


Find me anything I’ve said negatively about Lofton too, btw.

Just to put this in perspective, Ohio State just lost their top two DTs and top two EDGEs to the draft. We have 2 proven Edges returning, and 1 proven DT returning who was at worst top 3-5 DT in portal, another 5 star DT that all practice...

Let me ask you a question, is there anyone not named Bain (I don’t exclude him confidently) who starts at Oregon, OSU, UGA, etc.? No. That should tell everyone our DL is not good enough to compete at a high level.

Mario says he’s about the trenches but the DL hasn’t lived up to the standards of the OL. Until this is fixed, along with our LB’s, we aren’t winning anything significant.

Uh who are Ohio States proven Edges and DTs? Lol they lose their two starting edges and starting DT. Dont Their returning and likely starting edges have 3 and 4.5 sacks for their...

Their DL is better. I’m sure many will refer to Bain’s 2023 season and Mesidor’s 2022 season as their reasoning to disagree though, lol.

I like how every other teams top recruits are all great players that can be counted on regardless how proven or inexperienced they are, but that same standard can't be applied to us lol.

TJ Parker was great and likely will be even better for them this year. But the rest of their Edges didn't do much of anything, which is why Clemson committed the cardinal sin of taking some portal players lol. One of those transfers was from Purdue - Heldt...

The NFL is full of idiots in positions where they have no business being. The days of the legendary GM’s is gone.

This goes back to something I heard from a former NFL player and posted about before the draft. He estimated that 2/3 to 3/4 of the NFL GM’s draft not to win, but to keep their jobs. So they draft players who fit a physical profile, like an Arvell Reese. Then if the player is unsuccessful the blame falls on the coach and not the GM.
Needless to say the teams that win consistently have a front office that is aligned with the needs of the coaching staff.

We have a lot more NFL types than that. Point would be how far along each are in their development in correspondence with their teammates. Not where they are individually. Those NFL types you mentioned the furthest along as a complete player is mondo by a mile. But again it's a team game. We know we're set right now at tackle. We need to see those types at end continue to develop NOW. If wilson continues to develop in run game he'll go top 10 with ease. Kids a freak of nature. Just gotta see it in game cause it's the reason he's here.

I'm becoming redundant now because everyone keeps responding about this. But my concern is singular and it's not really a concern. It's understanding what we gotta make strides at and calling that out. Those strides come than this defense will be absolutely dominant. But if I keep responding to people it's gonna look like I'm calling out a negative opposed to stating a truth & that's definitely not my intent.

I agree. Lots of nfl types. Not a lot of stats that back it up. If most of them take steps, we should be pretty good.

Yep I remember CIS claiming that Clemson had an unquestionably & objectively better Dline then Miami going into the season. Mesidor was also borderline JAG status round these parts b4 the szn started smh …Personally I feel like our defensive staff is elite and we won’t miss a beat and be just as dominant as a unit as we were last year albeit in a different way. There will be players who breakout and players who really outperform our expectations of them à la Keionte Scott, Bryce Fitz, Moten & Ironically (for ppl on CIS) Mesidor …
