Rueben Bain Jr is dominating joint practice with the Jets

Agree. But one year ago few people had any idea how good Bain and especially Mesidor were going to be. You may have. I cannot recall. But the general consensus on here was it would be glorious if we could just get close to a Top 20 DL after the debacle that was 2024.

My point is we’re always projecting at this point in the cycle. My projection is based on what I saw in the CFP with Moten and Scott, on film for Davis at Nebraska, the Taint boards expressing frustration over losing an expected starter in Carter and the reports on all 4 from those watching practices. You actually attend those practices so you are certainly more informed than I am. But I’m all in based on what I have seen.

Lightfoot and Blount both have proven more and have more talent than like 95% of p4 teams starting Edges. So not sure what you mean by see it first, cause that standard likely isn’t being applied to any other team maybe except for the literal handful of teams in the country that come close…. And Damon Wilson is a proven 1st round talent obviously as you point out.
Keona Davis was starting at Nebraska and possibly their best Dlineman, looks like best against the run for them and needs to improve his rush ability. Scroggins played for our elite DLine last yr. Pickett should likely be a solid rotational player. And Asharri Charles was highly touted recruit and I’d bet will be good

If what Lightfoot, Blount, 3rd, and Pickett, flashed, as as 18 and 19 year old young pups getting real minutes in the playoffs, combined with another year under the best DE coach in all of college football wasn’t enough to convince you, then I really don’t know what to tell you other than… stay tuned. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It’s classic CIS logic, if a players wasn’t an All ACC or All American the previous season, then he is unproven and more than likely a JGA. This same logic was applied to Mesidor last season and well…

Lightfoot has been targeted in the run game, but if he hasn’t shown everyone that he can impact the game by rushing the passer, don’t know what you need to see. He did it in the playoffs. What else ya need to see in that aspect? Ha.

Yeah, I want him to be better against run, too. I think he’ll make a leap. I’d absolutely hate it if he went to ND or Clemson. ****, ND got a transfer from Bama who is ‘all world’ and I think Lightfoot had as much production (disruption) against OSU in the playoffs than that dude had almost all his season at Bama.

I believe Lightfoot and Blount will be good players. I will have to see the depth behind them before crowning it the "deepest DE room in the nation" that's all. We have three good players at the position and lots of talented, but unproven guys.
 
As a lifelong bengals fan, I am not looking forward to our opening week game with Reuben Bain teeing up on Joe burrow. If we get through that game without an injury I will be relieved

The dominance bain and Mes had will be duplicated by Moten & Scott on the interior. You don't replace a generational DE tandem , but Damon Wilson didn't just walk into 9 sacks at Mizzou he's an Elite end who honestly doesn't get enough credit for how well he actually plays the run. Lightfoot flashed all last season & has put on 20LBS and is at 240 now. Armando Blount Blunt & Keona Davis will also be **** setting the edge vs the run.

2021 draft- two first rounders
2026 draft- two first rounders

I don’t think we need two first rounders this year to do well. Heck, give me four nfl types like the 2001 team that had 4 taken in 2003.

Ehh. A unit is exactly that. As dominant as reuben and Mesidore were they were able to achieve that ONLY ONCE our tackles matured. Yes both reuben and Mesidore were hurt season before last. They also were last year. Main difference was tackles stepped up. Damon would tell you himself before he got here the run game was a sore topic. Lightfoot the same and saying he flashed is fine but this is a very different circumstance this year. None of this is said as a way to question if we're capable. Of course we are. But it's a process & we ain't there just yet. Luckily we won't need to be till notre lame comes up.again not a negative. Just a fact
