Rueban Bain Jr Got Paid Today

I don’t know who this Brad Gagnon guy from the bleacher report is but it’s clear he’s an idiot who doesn’t watch football.

Dudes Canadian and I can promise you he has never put a football helmet on or worked for any professional organization in any capacity.

It’s hilarious when you look into the backgrounds of these B/R writers

He is quick, strong and uses his “too short” arms as powerful clubs. He may not be a HOF edge, but somebody is going to get a great piece who will compete for years. I haven’t wanted the Bucs to land a DL this badly since Sapp.
What makes him so valuable IMO is he’s excellent against the run as well. Take a guy like Micah Parsons, for example, who’s regarded as one of the best pure pass rushers in the league but has always had a reputation of being a liability against the run. With Bain, you don’t really have that issue. I am curious to see what the NFL does with him…Leave him outside as a prototypical pass rusher, or move him inside as a 3-tech DL(this is what I think, similar to an Aaron Donald) what do you think?

He ain't dropping to us. If he did it would be very Sappesque. That SOB played with a chip his whole career.

Sounds like @Peter Ariz to me! Those two should grab a beer together and compare their dumb@$$ takes.

My god are you people maniacs

It isn't personal when someone lists concerns about a Canes player. There are plenty of guys that love Bain too.
If you get in the business of scouting NFL players and publishing your thoughts, you're subject to scrutiny. It's especially valid criticism where you actually say one of Bain's weaknesses are his explosiveness off the line, which if anything, he's pretty elite at. If he had mentioned measurables as a concern (such as having shorter arms), than that's valid. But the criticism is warranted.

He’s the safest pick in the draft. I’d take him #1 and let it rip.

Imagine watching Cam Ward and thinking yeah Fernando Mendoza is clearly #1.

But what do I know. I laughed at scouts that had Sellers locked in as a top 10 pick this year and they called me a dumbass

I think too often these scouts overthink this ****. Just put on the tape and watch him dominate game after game. But some team will get cute, pass him up, and end up regretting it for years.

For sure there’s a “smartest guy in the room” thing

I get it you ideally want a QB but a DE that stops the run and rushes the passer at an elite level, will likely be at minimum a stalwart 5-10 year starter? All day long when I look at the other options

Yea if you needed a QB and it was a super elite QB then you definitely go that route…I just don’t think Mendoza is that. If you got a DL like Bain who can cause havoc all game you don’t pass that up. I just think this is a down year for QB’s and this is one of those years where I think it’s justified taking Bain over a QB.

Yep and the Allar's and Klubnik's. I laughed at all of those QBs most listed because I'd seen them play for 2-3 years and wondered what the scouts were seeing differently. Turns out film doesn't lie.

in terms of dawg-in-him, Bain reminds me of JJ Watt - you're getting 100% from him on every snap, and he's **** bent on ruining your plans, whether it's a run or pass. (obviously they go about it in different ways - both are bull strong, but JJ had the length, whereas Bain has superior bend, so don't start with that strawman nonsense, this is about tenacity and impact)

this is the worst QB draft just like it was the worst Heisman vote. Heisman has been worthless since Willis didn't win it so I also don't give 2 *****

Bain is a baller, him being hurt basically all last year as well as Mesidor missing games last lends into the collapse of the Defense. once a guy or 2 went down in the secondary the defense was cooked. Bain missed half the season than came back and wasn't in any sort of shape to impact the game. Mesidor was playing DT when he played and the defense was just in shambles

Bain is a safe bet because he can move anywhere on the line and have a big impact. He destroyed multiple centers this year playing NG. He likely would have no problem getting to 290-300 OR he stays outside at 275 and beats the **** out of OTs.
