I thought Richt used RPO's in the offensive game plan? If he does, why was Brad not passing when 8 are in the box?

Keeping things close to the vest on an overmatched team?

^This. They have kept things very simple in these first two weeks. I expect to see the playbook open up against App State next weekend. They are much better team with solid coaching.

One thing I look forward to is 2 running back formations - Yearby and Walton in the backfield together.

We had that personnel in on one play and there was a pre-snap penalty, IIRC. Didn't see it again.

This is always the excuse when we play poorly.

Richt admitted that FAU gave them completely different looks than they showed in their first game. They were expecting 2 high safety and instead got 1 high (thus 8 in box).

We adjusted at halftime to RPO and threw bubble screens and zone reads at them. It worked.

Richt desperately tried to get Kayaa into a rhythm in the first half, but Brad wanted none of it. So Richt had to dumb it down to make sure we finished FAU off.

But this whole idea that the offense is just saving itself and will look sharp once it runs more plays, is comical. Kayaa can't even make simple throws right now. We will see 8 in the box all year if I had to guess.

We will just have more plays from most of the same formations, or different variations of the same plays. Good coaches and players can defend plays they havent seen by using concepts. It's not like we have a ton of film on FAU and FAMU offense either.

I am confused. Why would we not RPO because of an inferior team? Also Brad is a jr, even if we are not giving him the option of fun play option depending on the defense why is he not calling an audible when there is 8 in the box? I don't get it.

We used RPO's.

Our first scoring drive, in the 2nd quarter, we threw two bubble screens. Those were RPO's.

Kaaya has the option to hand the ball off or throw the bubble. The one he threw to Herndon probably should've been handed off. Walton likely scores.

Walton's first TD was an RPO. (a few plays later)

An audible and an RPO are two different things.

RPO's are a staple of the spread. We didn't get an 8 man box when we lined up in spread. However, we did run RPO's when we were in spread formations on Saturday. Our first scoring drive of the game had several RPO's.

We were taking chunks out of FAU's defense with RPO's. That's why I got so frustrated when we got out of the spread and went into the I-formation.

In the spread it was like stealing candy from a baby. After we succeeded with the bubble throws FAU started widening their LB's out, leaving only 5 guys in the box, so we handed the ball off to Yearby/Walton for chunks. If they moved the LB closer to the box we threw bubble again.

THAT needs to be our offense and it's not even debatable IMO. We're deadly running that stuff.

I think we are very vanilla. The positive is the game tape we'll see for App State is going to be their best because they CLEARLY bought their A game against UT. It's still imperative to be run first with our offense. I don't give a **** about Kaaya being the all time passing leader or him getting to the NFL at this point. I want 10 wins minimum and if it comes on the legs of Walton and yearby, so be it.

wait por favor. our coaching staff made an adjustment and people are complaining? this is progress, real progress gentlemen and gentlewomen. and that adjustment helped us overwhelm the opponent and win comfortably, even with a struggling QB. kaaya will overcome those struggles, but the coaching really helped us saturday, rather than impeded us, for the first time in many years. isn't that what a good coach is suppose to do?

we would have lost that game with golden or at least struggled to win to the bitter end.

more evidence of good coaching and good adjustments. this is new peoples! no more nix, no more whipple, no more coley.

chess not checkers . . .

just watch the two first games... small ****** D lines are pushing back into our back field, Kaaya never adjusted against FAU and FAU had better coverage players.

kinda scary to think how our oline was handled yet we ran for 300+ yards in two games.

sometimes I wonder if our staffs including the last several over think the game, someone mentioned bama only winning 38-7 or something, bama does not blow out team, they stick to a game plan on running the ball and playing great D....

we started throwing to soon and though we had the lead, we played liked we were behind, rushing plays, mistakes etc...

Coaching needs to tighten up as well... we are not a great team, play to our strengths and we can now trust our D to get the ball back

Also thought Kaaya looked uncomfortable, in his defense, CMR did say he (CMR) erred, in not getting BK back far enough in the box. Although he was also getting pressure around the edges. I assume they are working on that right now. We'll see.

Work in progress, will need to stay another year

I don't think doing things wrong is ever a good practice. Kaaya has things to work on, in a big way. Right now he's looking about as draftable as Gino Torreta, minus the Heisman. He has talent, but his weaknesses are magnified in this offense, at least so far. Now, I have confidence in Richt getting him straightened out, but it has to be soon. I don't buy for a second that we just aren't showing better teams on our schedule our O, especially when Kaaya is simply missing passes and reads. He's also not faking bad footwork. It's up to Richt to correct these issues, or quickly develop an O that works for the QB he has.

Wait a second, adjustments at half time are allowed?

It was nice to see our staff change things up and have success in both games. While the FAU results after half were as amazing as the FAMU, the opponent was better.
