Rooster

I posted 3 examples above. Get him isolated on LBs in space, he's deadly. "In space" isn't a thing in this offense so he probably should just transfer.
You mean like the screen pass against MTSU where he dropped the ball for our third straight TO?

Rooster was good last year and flashed. Something is wrong this year and this team is better off without 2022 Rooster. We are better with 2021 Rooster.

Something is wrong - and its up to the coaches to try to get this kid's head on straight. Mario was quoted in a tweet earlier in this thread how they stuck with him through good times and bad......that's very telling. Something happened this year and it's up to the kid to decide if he wants to be here or not. If he does, and works to fix his ball security issues, he can be very lethal in the pass game and draws/outside zone plays. If he needs a fresh start bc of whatever "issue" is at hand, then we need to find another talented back to replace him bc that room is void of players can stay healthy and/or produce right now.

Mario wasn’t given much to work with this has been so obvious.
We do not have the athletes with the mental football capacity to battle with upper tear teams .
Mario does some X and Parrish type players whom take ownership.
Offseason conditioning was very scarce all we had were the X type players performing abd carrying the load.

As Mario honestly mentioned he is STUCK and he really is and as many here have already turned there back on him .
Like Crowder (560 WQAM) said many times he can look at a player and in minutes can tell which one are ball players X type players and who’s frankly what mostly have.

Imagine what Mario saw very depressing how we have fallen , yet he left behind a championship team at Oregon with an unlimited budget to come here .

Don’t sell Mario short soon you’ll regret having to get back on the NC train.

I've been displeased with his performance this year. I don't think he's an every-down back and if he thinks he is one, then he ought to transfer, because guys like Parrish, Chaney and Citizen are likely better equipped to be RB1. That said, he is an example IMO of a guy that has not been utilized correctly by Gattis. On a roster that is devoid of playmakers, getting a guy like him some plays to try to utilize his ability would be nice. Even a **** RB screen once a game would be nice and easy. Ideally, I think he is a guy that gets 5-7 carries a game + 3-5 targets in the passing game.
Sounds great….. even with his fumbling issues? Dude is a liability with the ball in his hands… can’t trust himn

Loved rooster, but it was his time to go. Hopefully more guys will follow. Time to open up more sports for portal guys because if you notice, arguably the 4 best and most productive players on this team came from the portal (Jackson, Mesidor, Parish, Young)

Knighton himself runs like he thinks he's Jerome Bettis. That's his main issue. He's his own worst enemy.
Bingo. I like his toughness but using his 180lb frame to run directly into a defender (instead of juking him) or running into the back of a pile (instead of showing some patience/vision like Parrish) was always so frustrating with Rooster. He's just not a good RB, decent weapon out of the backfield for screens/wheel routes but thats all.

Misused? Yes. “A lot of talent” is relative and debatable. He’s a nice scat back who is a good weapon in the passing game. He has the speed but he lacks wiggle/shiftiness of a RB1/RB2 type.

He's plenty shifty, he's just not a jump cutter. He's a slasher, a one-cut and GONE type of back. He's better in the open field than he is behind the line, but that doesn't mean that he's "not shifty".

The kid has issues with ball security and is oft injured, but "lacks wiggle/shiftiness" is just a poor take.

Yep.. 15 touches. 2-3 returns, a screen play or two, 7-8 runs, 3-5 targets in the passing game (shallow crosses, wheels, Texas routes out the backfield, etc.). A creative OC will find ways to utilize explosive players.

Agree that he's a one cut downhill guy. But, those guys are generally not considered shifty. He lacks wiggle and he goes down very easily.

Doesn't help that he also now fumbles. Those negatives are brutal for a RB's survival.

according to Mario everything with Rooster is fine. sounds like he was maybe benched for the fumbles. whether he transfers IDK. but Mario made it sound like he would get some touches this week

You go from “our best back to our worst” because this roster sucks. Who was his competition to be “the best RB” last year? Cam Harris? Spare me. (I deadass don’t mean that to be mean to any individual player). But we are just clearly lacking talent. Which is why Parrish can transfer over and immediately be RB1, and look 100x the better player.

EDIT: and if the only way you can have good plays is if the coach schemes you up to be wide-open, then the truth is, you aren’t good. There’s about 500 other D1 college athletes who can score if they’re wide open. And they probably won’t fumble either.
Naw not buying that sh@t. Bro just about every player on the team has regress. This is coaching at it's best. I'm not buying nothing you said. The scheme is messed up. Look at the QB situation TVD. This team has talent n has no business being 4,&,4. This guy has run in between the tackles last yr n broke for long yards. Maybe the OC straight sucks n don't know how to use him. If you think Parrish is better then him you must be delusional at it's best.
