Romello Brinson transfers to SMU

Why would any self respecting Canes fan wish good luck to a kid who was negative recruiting us telling local kids to go elsewhere?

I don’t know the details but I wouldn’t tell a single receiver to ever come play for Josh Gattis. Players did the same thing with Golden and D’Onofrio and we applauded them for making the smart move and avoiding their “coaching”.

You fools think Lashlee is the savior for these guys careers. Do I need to remind you he went 7-6 in 2022?

These guys didn’t do anything at Miami. There’s a reason they are playing at a G5 program and didn’t get offers to go to any power 5 schools once they hit the portal.
we went 5-7 in a conf of equal difficulty as Lashlees

rumors were that duke and Dorsett did it. I dont blame them one bit. golden ruined a lot of careers. chick hates him.

Romello Brinson is what - the 6th - Miami Hurricane to transfer to SMU...I'm curious where these guys end up if they don't find a landing spot with Lashlee? Surely, lower tiered than even SMU.

Also, all of them significantly dropped with their transfer portal prospect grade. All are basically mid-tier 3-star players after transfer.

As opposed to our transfer takes...all of which moves up in prospect grade.
AAC is about equal to the ACC in difficulty. obviously, it drops once UCF and Cincy officially begin in the b12, but last years AAC wasn't worse than last years ACC.

Nah, b. ACC is a better conference. No disrespect to the AAC which is good fun footbal.

ACC's mid beat up 2/3 of the AAC during bowl season.

It’s not nearly as huge of a jump as Miami fans want to pretend it is.

The offensive transfers will likely succeed. Rhett’s offense was dynamic again last year and will only be better with higher caliber athletes. The defense is another story. SMU didn’t go 7-6 because they had a bad offense. They were 12th in the nation in scoring (Miami was 97th).

What part do you not understand? He ran a 4.4 at one point. He is not slow. Sure, he did not produce. Can't argue with that. However, not sure how you can say he is slow. Again, Lashlee is not going to hand out a scholly to a "slow" WR.

When did he run this 4.4 at “one point?” Was this a laser, officially verified time? Was it while at The U?

I can unequivocally say I’ve been around many 4.4 guys; and not to toot my own horn, but I was a 4.44 guy myself in high school. I didn’t remotely see a 4.4 guy, & I’ve been around 4.4 guys w/ long strides, so it wasn’t that, either. Rambo looked faster than Brinson, & Rambo is a 4.57 guy.

Too bad he didn’t do more here but good luck to him there.

didn’t see this posted elsewhere but pls delete if this already had its own thread
He will be better off at SMU under a real head coach that has a sense of direction. Watch out for SMU next year!

Im a Miami Hurricane fan. I wouldnt applaud players for not coming here. I would understand why they wouldn’t, but applaud them? **** no. I don’t give a rats *** about the local kids down there or their careers if they aren’t Hurricanes

Guys have to care more about football than being cool. The emphasis Mario and Zo keeps placing on "guys have to LOVE football" isn't some coach speak...it's really that way. This is what separates the okay ones from the ones that make it to the league and succeed.

ON TOP OF ALL THAT...you're literally just a hop and a skip from South Beach/Miami...so not exactly the easiest place to focus on just football and school. Mario has his work cut out for him

While I understand your point you gotta be able to separate being a fan of the program and coaches not knowing what they’re doing…

I don’t blame Teddy Bridgewater or Amari Cooper for not choosing to play for Golden. Or PS2 for not wanting to play for Manny.

How come all our transfers are going to these lower tier schools?

I thought this team was talented?

But are they really a lower tier program at this point…

5-7 with 4 boat races, including MTSU and Duke…Jesus….

Maybe they should focus on winning football games…

Correct. Not that this is the only metric, but Bill Connelly does his SP+ for the conferences each year as a whole.

The final rankings after the regular season were:

1. SEC -- 14.6 avg
2. Big 12 -- 12.6 avg
3. Big 10 -- 9.1 avg
4. Pac 12 -- 6.1 avg
5. ACC -- 2.2 avg
6. AAC -- 0.9 avg

So, he has the ACC a little better overall. But it's close. And the ACC absolutely sucks out loud. The worst P5 league by a wide margin. Just an abomination of a league, as usual.
