If true, I would say the only flaw I perceive in the search is not pursuing Herman, but they said from the top they wanted a HC with a proven track record, and Herman is just getting started. And for that matter it is possible they did through private channels and we may never know about it.

Well, she's full of crap or those that told her were at least. I can say factually that Coley didn't know anything as of 8pm the night the story broke with Richt. There was no Butch anything aside from him being interviewed. Bad assumption on whatever players part or hers.

I respect Butch but Mark richt is a better coach and recruiter than Butch thus making him the better hire. Butch does have talent evaluation over richt but he's not that far behind him. Richt has put 79 players in the league since 2002 which is second most in the country. On top of that richt has the 3rd most wins of any coach in his first 15 years...

I love Butch Davis and thought e would do well but richt offers so much more opportunity for Miami. For one it made Miami realize they can't be cheap with paying coaches, it further entrenched Miami even more so in 2 other talent rich states in ga and the Carolinas He most likely will bring some recruits for Ugas commit list. He also is well known for being a top 5- top 10 head coach recruiter. We won't have to worry about our recruiting classes with him. He is consistently in the top 5 or top 10 every year for the most part. This is great for Miami. I don't like how people try to discredit Butch but I also don't like how people think he is the only one who could get it right at Miami. We have won 5 championships with him not being the head coach so the school is bigger than him..

You guys must be young, Butch did a great job here. He was on the verge of creating dominance like never before seen. He was also on that cusp at UNC. My only issue with Butch is, he is slimy. He has never truly run a straight ship. I would be willing to bet he knew who Shapiro was, and he obviously had a bag man at UNC. But either way, he can recruit, he can coach and if we had hired him it ALSO would have been a great hire. I am happy with the Richt hire, but I would have been happy with Butch as well.

Brock, other than Jimmy, and maybe Lamar, most of those dudes or not in the stratosphere of some of the greats from Butch's teams. Olsen came because of Shockey, and Franks. Please don't try so hard to discredit Butch. I would be willing to bet that Ed Reed and ST had more pro bowls than that list combined.... Yes. And he also did himself a disservice by pretending to be the only person in the world who didn't know Black Santa was dirty.

He's had a long history of hardcore lying, and UM likely felt it couldn't hire a guy it didn't trust to tell the truth about anything. The late great Jim Mandich once said, "I wouldn't trust a word out of Butch's mouth if his tongue was notarized."

I love Butch and hope ESPN doesn't fire him like they've done so many others. But his time has passed. I'm sure in 15 years, though, when Coach Richt retires CanesAndGaytors and the other sycophantic cult members will be looking to drag an 80 year old drooling, lying Butch out of Century Village for another run at glory.
