Romberg Fired (?) At 790

if thats waht they said, then its def bc he likely wanted to do canes coverage and they told him to bleep off. this would be a good opportunity for the man to make their headway into sfl radio. hire romberg and now you have a former cane with connections to the school and current staff and players giving you canes insight for the next month (since romberg cant go to 560 or 790 now).

Been listening to Curtis Stevenson and Rashad Butler in the afternoon on 790, and they're pretty good.

Zaslow is ridiculous. Zero sports knowledge, terrible voice but thinks because he does the Heat pregame he's part of their front office. I recall him going off about Ira Winderman saying LBJ was likely gone, screaming "baseless" into his microphone, calling him Windbag, etc. Next day, LBJ was gone. Zaslows ***** *** wouldn't let him come on for a follow-up and totally avoids him at media events. No balls.

I usually flip back and forth between Hoch and Crowder and the 790 afternoon drive show. It was originally Ethan Skolnick and Chris Perkins but Ethan beat up his dad and was replaced by Curtis Stephenson. Curtis and Perk were solid but Perkins left to focus on journalism and they've just been using fill-ins for the last few months. Honestly, my favorite fill in is former Canes punter, Brian Monroe. He's pretty sharp, has some "former player" knowledge without coming across as a know it all and he brings some brevity to the show.

There's still a few good sports talk shows in south Florida. Frankly I prefer some of the newer style formats to the old "let's take some calls" style where they just let idiot fans ramble on about nonsensical topics. Any time a sports talk show starts "opening up the phone lines" I immediately change the channel.

Was thinking it might be about the Canes coverage. If they’re all one entity now then it shouldn’t matter that 560 has the rights. Romberg should be on the coverage, not the guy who played for Florida.

And im in complete agreement dude just goes against ANY opinion ...just to do it. He's telling people that cover basketball about his opinion even though he played full back in the nfl. Add to it his opinions are usually sh*t.

Im gonna be honest South Florida guys are so bad (Hoard the worst) ...that Channing Crowder is a god send. Let that sink in..Channing freaking Crowder is better than most of these guys im to the point i want him covering canes games because Zagaki annoys me and Crowder and DBJ would be hysterical.
 
Oh yea...that Perkins dude was baaaaaad to. Kinda glad he is gone, he knew some basketball but he was bad otherwise. And thought to highly of himself as a journalist.

Skolnick i really liked listening to....but i think he was on coke or got grounded and beat up his dad or some sh*t.

Brian Munroe former punter is coming along...dude should really stick to it and get a spot.

I actually like when Omar Kelly is on a show..he is wrong alot but atleast its entertaining listening to his sh*t takes.

i drive 45 mins to and from work daily, and even during the work day so i tune in alot throughout the day than listening to my usual trap music

skolnick -- had some home issues, beat his dad, and disappeared till he created 5 reasons sports (actually has a good canes podcast with Ivins), and then got caught cheating on his wife w a stripper lol.

perk -- went to the athletic (id buy a sub, but their miami writers are terrible tho navarro does post some good canes stuff).

omar -- sedano did omar the best with the i fight with omar segments

a lot of their good radio dudes arent reg full time guys, which sucks. tobin has potential to be a mike ryan type, but he needs to get off that awful morning show before they all go down.
 
Shows how little I've paid attention to the radio - I had no idea about the Skolnick stuff. I used to think his coverage of the Heat was excellent, but stopped paying attention when he went to cover Cleveland. Seemed like a levelheaded, even boring, kind of dude who'd be the last person you'd think would cheat on his wife and pummel his father.

Problem is his midday show crew is terrible too lol

Skolnick was good during the big 3 era cause he was connected with Wade and Lebron. Now if u listen to his basketball podcast, he constantly reminds you that he used to cover the heat. Even on the football one, has to remind you he used to cover the Dolphins back in the Marino era. Every single podcast. Dude isn't connected anymore and his takes have suffered. And he aired out all his dirty laundry with his wife on IG and Twitter. Definitely bipolar.

yeah i stopped listening to him once it became clear that hes an awful person in real life.
