Romberg Fired (?) At 790

Up here in Orlando, the only one tolerable is Scott Anez.

I thought that guy up in Atlanta was pretty good. He came on once during Al G's era to give the one of the best assessment of Cane football i have ever heard. Don't know his name

I hate Le *******... i have no idea who he has been "DRev" ing to keep his crap on the air.

I spend a few weeks in soFla every summer and I have to say local sports talk is terrible.
The level of suckiness extends to inarticulate conversation to not much to offer about sports
that isn't already known.
As a group, these sports talk folks are also lazy, simply following the latest "hot" topic being peddled
about by equally lame ESPN sports talk shows, which is usually a bad attempt to mix sports with race, sexism
or other off-topic pop-culture stupidity.
Everyone is trying to be another Tony Kornheiser or Dan LeRetard which is odd because they are lazy and suck
at their job.
Regarding Romberg, he's a Cane so sorry about him losing his gig, but he was pretty mediocre at his job too the few times
I heard him.
Thanks for your amazing summary gathered over a few weeks a summer. No one gives a **** about your ****** tastes

Yet here you are, with a very intense, if not triggered response to my post.
Nice chatting with you JuanCane, give my regards to your brother TwoCane.

Probably because they had Mario Cristobal on there and allowed him to give an Oregon recruiting pitch on air and they’re the so called “Miami flagship” station

I moved to Orlando and have XM radio so don’t listen to local radio anymore. That being said I was never bothered by Joe Rose allowing Jimbo, or Mario or anyother coach recruiting south Florida the airwaves. Reason being non of these kids are listening to AM radio so who cares

Nah not worried about them being influenced by it or even hearing it for that matter. Just the concept of it from our flagship station of the university.

Would never happen in Tuscaloosa or Clemson etc

if you want sports talk from the 1980s, go find a podcast by your favorite writers. that's the future. no one listens to radio for generic old sports talk which is why lebatard has gotten huge (he's a parody of the sports show). if i want someone breaking down sports, ill go listen to zach lowe, 5 rings, sebastians pub, etc. if i want an easy listen while i drive, ill hit up the lebatard podcast along with randomly morning show if there is bigger heat news going on

I like the podcast stuff, but avoid all sports writers.
I just don't respect any of them.
But podcasts like Jon Batchelor are my favorite as he brings in historians, stock market folks
and other writers to discuss their books.
It's a great listen late at night.
If anyone wants to recommend podcasts of similar ilk please feel free.

I love John Batchelor but I youtube ( I like Tv) his shows and nothing is current.

I listened to sports and NPR before podcasts. I just can't stand most music stations. They are especially awful in South Florida.

Music radio is bad everywhere but NYC, and it's still bad there but not quite horrid. Gotta find the critic you like and see who they RT or like or post about

That's exactly right. You think a radio show in Alabama would let Manny Diaz on their show for a weekly segment?

It was so disrespectful. I'm sure Jimbo laughed at us in private.

He wasn’t great but no one and I mean NO ONE is as bad as Leroy Hoard. Absolute diarrhea coming through my car speakers. And that’s saying a lot cause he’s on the same show as Beast who sucks donkey ****s.

THEEEEEEEE ABSOLUTE WORST....

not sure how he has a job. Dude is constantly over talking his co horts with his wrong takes..quite frankly not even sure WHY he is on s.fla radio sports talk. Then you compound him with the BEAST...and its typically the time im riding in the car...i cringe and listen for 5 mins at a time the most.

He's terrible. Why is he always screaming?

Romberg was great for his football insights especially the canes but he couldn't care less about the other sports. It was embarrassing hearing him speak about basketball.

LOL. I'm driving in the car and cringing. Like the Beast and the other just must feel sorry for Leroy or something. Then he is laughin at his own jokes..its real bad.

Sports radio has become what espn and fs1 are.a lot of hot air and opinions with no substance. Like a political debate a lot of words being spoken nobody is saying anything .Like watching a daytime soap.watch an episode today come back in a couple months story still the same only difference partners have changed.

The other day Rom was craping all over the station, he said how could you have the biggest home opening game In years and not take advantage of Rombergs connects with alum. He said he offered up to bring in a bunch of alums, while doing a live show from Orlando and they never took him up on the offer.

I’m excited football is back! But can’t do the radio talk show stuff. They are terrible. They need to send guys out to get local information before it hit the Herald and TV. Lazy is the magic word with the radio Circuit.

The entire morning show outside of Brendan Tobin is ***. Romberg mailed it in 75% of the time. I'm pretty sure he was hungover almost every morning. Zaslow is probably the worst host on any show and the girl is seemingly there just to add a female perspective. She's not knowledgeable and serves only to pump up the gators.

What ever happened to Big O and Sid Rosenberg? Where those two at now?

Big O does weekend shows on Maddog sports radio. Occasionally listen when I have my dog out for exercise. Rosenberg might be doing sports radio in NYC. Sports radio has really gone down the toilet in South Florida. They used to have some of the best lineups in the country. I've basically stopped listening and will occasionally return to Lebatard for the McGill segment. Otherwise, podcast and Sirius
