So the problem is having rules then.
The problem is having rules that are applied across the board. If Bar Milo ***** up. Kick him off the team. If Thomas breaks the rules you let it slide. If the NCAA may find out about it and its an NCAA violation you cover it up. If it is an NCAA violation and the NCAA finds out about it you do whatever you can to minimize blowback to the school and try to get the kid as short of a suspension as possible. This doesn't just apply to football. Every large company in the world breaks the rules and the vast majority(if not all of them) will help cover for top earners assuming it won't end up blowing up in their faces and costing more trouble in the end. Do you remember the whole Jeffries financial ordeal where they were covering up for one of the IB heads was caught numerous times going to work ****ed up, but they let it slide and then once he was actually arrested for it they ended up putting on a master class in PR and basically had no negative consequences of it(the positives outweighed the negatives. It is like when you see companies break rules because the fine is less then what they will save by not following proper protocol. If you get a fine of 10 million dollars a year for using plastic straws, but paper straws will cost you an additional 15 million dollars a year to use then you will keep using the plastic straws and pay the fine.
