Robert Knowles

A few things...

1. Some of the forty numbers that were on the internet, like Waters' time, were taken at a camp where the grass was muddy and everybody ran slow. My boy Dowels is listed at 4.72 on recruiting sites. He ran a laser 4.47 the day he stepped on Syracuse's campus. Nobody goes from a 4.7 to a 4.4 forty. If you see a gap like that between times then something is up. Waters was never a 4.7 kid.

2. Our times suck. You have to keep in mind that Miami uses hand-timing. (pathetic) So basically those CB's that run 4.6's (which is already slow for a CB) are actually 4.7 type athletes. Fast kids don't go to college and run 4.6's, especially on a stopwatch. We don't have a single blazer in the defensive backfield, which is pathetic for a Miami team. We should have multiple kids in the 4.4's.

3. Knowle's tape looks pretty good. Certain doesn't look like a 4.8 kid on tape.

Actually Miami's times in most cases tend to be pretty accurate. Duke Johnson being one of the outliers ran slower than what he actually runs at the combine because of a hamstring injury he was dealing with at the time during testing

Our times are usually faster.

I don tknow man Those big corners 6'1 195 pounds running a 4.6 aint bad..But like u said i find it hard to believe redwine runs a 4.6......

It's not bad if we're gonna convert to a Cover-3 scheme and we're looking for CB's like Richard Sherman.

It's whatever. I'm okay with a couple CB's who run 4.6's, especially if they're big, but overall our DB speed is terrible IMO.

These clips show you that film lies would any of you guess he runs a 4.9 40 after watching these? Live eyeball test greater then film

What matters is that he plays fast. Numbers don't mean sh*t to be honest...

bra vern you so funny

The athleticism gap between Bush/Burns and the rest of our secondary is staggering.

That's an illustration of the difference between being able to land blue-chip athletes -- both were mid-high four-star headliners of Golden's first two full classes, which meant we were still benefiting from the new coach recruiting bump every top program gets -- and striking out on every premier DB target since then excluding Jaquan, who was never a plus athlete but has everything else.

When this staff has failed to land their top DB targets with the most physical tools, they've prioritized size/length (i.e. Mayes/Jackson) over speed/athleticism. Excluding Burns most of our corners run in the 4.6 range, which should never be the case at Miami.

Exactly.

He has a lower leg injury he is recovering from....was a sprinter on the track team at 100m in the lower 11s......

here is his full testing...
Freshman Robert Knowles tested at 190 in the squat, 215 in the power clean, 265 in the bench and had a 30-inch vertical. He weighed 185 pounds and his 40 time was 4.87 seconds.

Meh.....I disagree...Burns, Tracy, Elder, all will play in the league (Tracy if he has a good year)... Bush and Jenkins, carter are plenty fast......Jaquan ran a 4.6 Those are the only dudes that will be getting playing time this year besides crawofrd all of those guye are in 4.5's or better..All the slow guys wont play this year or ever (Mayes, Knowles, Henley) Redwine is a safety all the way nobody else has the talent to play here IMO

*PJ WIlliams ran a 4.57 at Combine and he was FSU's best Corner and was a beast and they played man a lot

4.6 is fine for a 6'1 corner now if you are 5'9 or 5'10 that might be a problem

Michael Jackson? He was the best db in bama last year and had pretty good speed to go with his size.

Injured? lower leg injury? You sound like shannon..Injured dudes dont run the 40... I can give you plenty of examples like how Berrios didnt run the 40 last year because he was recovering from torn ACL

I meant to say CB not DB. My bad.

And PJ Williams ran a 4.5 electronic time. For whatever reason, we still use stop watches at Miami.

I've never wanted this kid to succeed more than I do now after reading all of this.

4.6 or 4.7 IN PADS ain't slow.
It's like Randy Shannon said..."I'd take somebody that can run a 4.6 ALL DAY, than somebody that can run a 4.4 ONE TIME."

At CB it is.

How many CFB teams have WRs that are running 4.3s or 4.4s across the board?

None. But at Miami speed is supposed to be our clear advantage. Having a bunch of CB's that run 4.6's is not making speed our advantage.
Agreed

Oh how we have fallen
