RIP to Alex Collins

I always thought the saying, “it’s not a matter of if you crash, but when” is super applicable. Drivers don’t pay enough attention to bikers, especially in cities
It’s a combination. The sawgrass at night is Ducati heaven and guys are up and down on it doing 100 + even when it’s not night time but then you do have other drivers especially on the street that are super selfish etc. You should see how hard it to respond to an incident during rush hour. It’s atrocious.

They’re not going to put it in the report but he was speeding trying have fun on his bike. I’m not going to get into injuries and all that. Another hurricane fan was the LT that transported him to FTL Broward.

So he crashed into the SUV and went thru the back window and died in their car? Jesus that’s especially awful, although in the grand scheme what’s it matter if he passed. But that’s a pretty odd accident and **** horrific.

JESUS, that's sad as **** no matter who ends up at fault. I know that motorcycle enthusiasts will say whatever, but if he had been in a vehicle he likely lives if excessive speed wasn't involved.

I'm not taking a stance or trying to incite a debate, but it's sad everytime someone dies on a bike. There's a reason family wise I've never owned one.

I saw a Motorcycle vs Navigator accident about 10-12 years ago. The Navigator got hit so hard it spun…. It was like WTF just happened.

Terrible. Sad. RIP.

Basically. He hit it hard enough to turn it clockwise too. Had to be doing 50-55 into the car at least.

I responded to a call when I was in school where the biker had the right of way to turn left and somebody took the light. Basically launched him like a rag doll.

Motorcycle. Those things are death traps. You don't even need another car involved to get messed up. We represented a guy who wiped out because of a mis-leveled manhole cover. Broken bones everywhere, traumatic brain injury, the works. Currently representing the estate and minor son of another young man on a motor scooter he had just bought. Some idiot turned left right in front of him. Now his 10-year-old son is an orphan. And it's a crapshoot whether you'll get hit by someone with more than the $10K minimum in coverage, if they have insurance at all. 😒

Facts. My wife is a lead paralegal hrre, and they got a case right now where the motorcyclist was going straight and a moron in a van was trying to make a left hand turn in front of him. Long story short, he didn’t make it. Motorcycle hit the side of the van. Van **** near flipped and spun around. Dude on the motorcycle dead on the scene. This happened right outside the firm.

No matter what, my heart breaks for his family. I live within ear shot of I 4 right before Lakeland. Some genius cut the nice natural sound barrier of oaks and other trees. The **** I hear now at night, I'm all about having a **** of a time with a bike or car. But there's a half dozen easy each night well above 100

I build custom motos (single cylinder, air-cooled, kick-start only). I understand the danger and try to mitigate risk. I wear bright gear, drive sensibly, don't speed, and never drink while on a bike. That said, I live in Asheville (just moved from WA) and don't think I'd ride a bike in a major metro.

It is a shame that more isn't being done to stop texting and driving, but the majority of motorcycle deaths are due to speeding. I still remember wondering why Alex chose Suuuiiiiieee pig land. Hope his family finds peace.

@HuxMoto on IG if anyone is interested in seeing some of my bikes (78 SR500 pictured).

Down here? You couldn't pay me to get on a bike on the streets down here. Even in general it seems like an increasingly too risky a proposition in most places for whatever adrenaline rush/freedom they provide.
I have wanted a bike for years but would never get one as long as I’m living here. The drivers here are way too nonchalant about just changing lanes without looking.

his recruitment sticks with me more than almost anyone else's over the last 20 years. Remember exactly where I was when he and denver Kirkland spurned us for Arkansas

RIP

I think Collins's HS coach getting a job at Arkansas had something to do with Him ending up there. And Kirkland was silently committed to us and FSU, Barrow told Kirkland to stop playing games or we'll drop His offer.

Anyways, RIP Alex & condolences to His loved ones.

Lacrosse film with the Benny Hill theme song for me. Yakety Sax. Hilarious. Also such a freaking athlete!

RIP. Sad. Way too young. Motorcycles aren’t worth it.

That's awesome, not a lot of defenseman willing to get in his way. What happened to the kid on the faceoff at 2:30? Looked knocked out.
