riley leonard not walking through that door

His point was Carr isn't this statue, a la Brad Kaaya, that some think.
He was also in a tight competition with last year's third string QB. They're arguing about minor differences in high school rushing yards who were just over half of Leonard's in high school. They might not be statues, but they're not beating us with the legs of CJ ******* Carr.

got some time today ... looked up some stats

nd vs georgia
leornard 14car 80yd
love 6car 19yds
nd total yards was 244, leonard accounted for 170

nd vs penn state
leornard 18car 35 yrds
love 11car 46yds

nd vs osu
leonard 17car 40yds
love 4car 3yds

i'm not saying we have those defenses, however i am saying that riley leonard was a HUGE part of their running game and offense in general ... and he's out of eligibility
Look man.
There is no way they let Angeli walk unless Carr out threw him. Angeli just walked into Syracuse and took the job.

So while their whole offense did revolve around Leonard, let’s not downplay that Carr can run to some extent and isnt a statue.
Having a good oline allows a team to be flexible on offensive style.
Goddammit, can we please mother****ing stop with this bull****.

Minchey had 300 rushing yards in his last 3 years of HS. Carr had 312 rushing yards in his last 3 years of HS.

The point isn’t that he’s Michel Vick nor Riley Leonard. But he’s a good enough runner and a better passer than Leonard.
You have to at least entertain the possibility that Leonard held them back offensively because he couldn’t throw and not because they couldn’t scheme a passing game.

good point on angeli ... but in the portal era, you don't LET anyone do anything, if a school comes with a big offer you gotta go ... i'm almost certain coach brown threw a bag at him ... they were that desperate ...

bigger point tho is leonard had +180 carries for +900 yards ... he was a their short yardage guy ... i'm extremely hard press to see carr having that similar ability as a redshirt frosh, but i could be wrong

So if Love doesn't run all over us then Carr will because he ran in high school.

It must suck to really believe this ****.

Leave it to some "keepin' it real" CIS Miami-mopers/rival-slurpers to tell you about HOOOOWWWWW awesome every one of our opponents are...

Riiiight. Because of the 312 rushing yards over 3 years of high school ball...

Nope.

This is all just invented bull**** by you. I was trying to be charitable. I presented ALL of CJ Carr's high school rushing stats. The reality is, 2/3 of his career rushing stats came in ONE YEAR. We can hypothesize about why he ran so much that year, but it's very possible it was not by design, but because he was running for his life. We have no idea if he broke one long run and then was pedestrian (literally and figuratively) for the rest of the year.

But the one thing we DO KNOW is that AS A SENIOR (the last full year he played until now), he ran 59 times for 91 total yards. That is 1.5 yards per carry.

If your entire argument is that Carr can run "to some extent" or that he is a "good enough runner" is predicated on running 59 times for 91 yards...

Whatever, I'm done with this bull**** argument. CARR IS NOT A RUNNER. CARR IS NOT A DUAL THREAT. First, we had guys defending him "because he ran for more yards than Minchey in high school", until I pointed out that this massive selling point was "312 yards vs. 300 yards". Now, the argument that is dribbling down your leg is "he can run to some extent" and "he is a good enough runner".

Bull****.

As for "there is no way they let Angeli walk unless Carr out threw him", PROVE IT. Let me see if I can understand this brilliant argument...

So, the 2nd string Notre Dame QB, who was good enough to win the job at 10-3 Top 25 Syracuse after only transferring in April...was somehow "out thrown" by a freshman in Spring 2024 and/or Spring 2025 (because he didn't even play in Fall 2024)...and the very same freshman who was locked in a battle to beat out last year's 3rd stringer for Notre Dame?

Seems...unlikely...to say the least.

Every. Single. Time. They focus on a player who does something well and suddenly they're the best to ever play and nobody stands a chance, especially not the hapless Canes with the caveman leading them.

I don't expect we'll be getting fitted for another ring any time soon, but I am still a fan.

So we shouldn’t worry about his ability to run.
Got it.
So is the qb situation in south bend is a total cluster fck and we roll?

Did they "let" Angeli walk, or did he go for more NIL and an opportunity to shine in a passer friendly offense like Mccord? Remember, the same Mccord everyone left for dead when he went to Syracuse and ended up leading CFB in passing yards..........

i actually think you take the rb on every mesh ... make carr absorb some hits, get up and go throw it with accuracy

i won't say a cluster ... but they did name their starting qb three days ago and it was the guy everyone thought had been beaten out

We absolutely should not be worried about his "ability to run". He has no ability to run.

Stop Jeremiyah Love. Don't let the other RB do anything either. Force that QB to stand in the pocket and find WRs. It's that simple.

Whether "we roll" will be determined by how our offense does.

Stop acting like a ***** by pretending everything is fine with CJ Carr because he was good in high school. **** all that nonsense. You are behaving like Carr beat out Angeli in some sort of fair competition. Just admit that Carr has been given the #1 spot because of his recruiting ranking, not because he is so much better (RIGHT NOW) than last year's #2 and #3 quarterbacks.

CJ Carr may be good someday in the future. But he's not a runner, he's not a dual threat, and he has not outplayed Angeli and Minchey in the past 8 months.

Carr ran for more yards in high school than Minchey.
So while neither Beck nor Carr are Michael Vick, they are both mobile enough to keep you honest with either a designed run or a defensive breakdown.

This is a tough disciplined team. Stop sipping the kool aid. There’s a reason their favored.

Not saying we’re facing a saban bama squad. But a good enough team where too many mistakes and poor execution will get you in a whole you can’t climb out of.
Not to mention that the zebras love them some notre dame.
Leonard ran for 900+ yards and was their short yardage back for all intents and purposes. He was a battering ram for them and was made more effective because he allowed them an extra blocker. Not having a player to replace his production/style of play eliminates a huge portion of what made their offense effective and efficient.

Yes, they told Angeli that he was #3 after Spring and he should start looking if he wanted to start somewhere.
