Richt's quote about which QB to go with

The Pitt game was 1000% on rosier. As TD said, our wrs were just wide open on almost every play and 12 couldn't get a ball to any of them. He even missed a few bubble screens by 5+ yds. It was one of the worst qb displays ive ever seen at any level.

Honestly the uva qb was straight garbage too and still outplayed our qbs

How do you know that? That game was Perry's what, second start ever? And his first on the road. And he gets one quarter to play his way through adversity?? He's supposed to be our future. Live or die with it. Why go backwards with a QB you know has no velocity, accuracy, or ability to look off defenders? Perry is struggling? Coach him out of it! Why the **** else are you there Richt??

If he's supposed to be our future wrap the season up now. I was all for bringing Williams in at the beginning of the season. Of course I don't know we would have won, just an Opinion like everyone else has here. Would he have done better than 2 picks and 20 yards and 10 points down? You bet! Perry looked like a deer caught in headlights that's why he was taken out after the second pick in the SECOND quarter that got ran down to the 5.

“Yeah, well, how I see it is both those young men are really talented guys that can play and can function. We’ll figure out who gives us the best shot next time we play.’’

I hope to God tis was just coach speak and not what he's actually thinking. If they both suck and you refuse to let the freshman see the field, how in the name of all that is holy can you allow your 5th year senior to be the one to get the nod??? If you refuse to let the frosh compete, then at least prepare for next season and that nasty opened against the Gaytors!

Gotta be coach speak. He definitely has to pump up Perry’s confidence after being pulled and still needs Rosier as the backup because Weldon keeps messing up. I do think Richt will ride with Perry the rest of the way.

Yes, in two and a half quarters, with a lot of help from a long Travis Homer run, and little from Rosier himself other than a good scramble or two. You get on Perry about his interceptions, but Rosier had one just as bad, and another that was an up-for-grabs ball that Thomas had to turn into a defender for to knock it down before it was intercepted. Rosier looked no better than Perry. We get it, you have some relationship or connection to Rosier, given how desperately you are trying to prop him up. But he has NOTHING over Perry, including his reads and his accuracy.

You didn't mention the good field position Perry had because of the pics on D. He had 20 yards in twenty minutes of play. How long did you expect the coach to leave him in there? Perry didn't have one drive, Rosier had a few good drives. Come on go watch the game again. Rosier also can run the bean pole is lost out there at least right now. I live 3500 miles away, lol. I don't know any on the team, I can see when someone is lost out there though. Perry can't run like Rosier period. At least Rosier has something to work with.

Did Perry **** your mom or are you Rosier's side piece?

It's like Jurassic Park Saturdays with Richt & Paul Johnson calling plays on the sidelines...

Richt obviously doesn’t trust N’Kosi. Seems like he’s been expecting him to self destruct.

At best Rosier runs slightly better than Perry, but the primary reason that Rosier gets more running yards is he gives up on pass plays immediately and runs. Perry scrambles to throw, which has resulted in some nice TD passes. Yes, Perry started bad in this game. He should have been sat for 1-2 series to calm down and reset. Rosier did NOTHING in that game to go about acting as if he were a good, or even acceptable, QB. You criticize Perry's interceptions and ignore Rosier's. You ignore the fact that Rosier, as he has done his whole career, cannot properly throw a short pass where he leads the receiver and lets him catch it on the run...he makes the easy passes into harder ones for the receiver. Rosier makes Freshman mistakes as a RS Senior...constantly.

He seems to have an odd basis for who he trusts. He trusts a lot of freshmen receivers to get extensive playing time. He doesn't trust Perry, and has a short leash with him, but he trusts Rosier and will let Rosier play like crap for multiple games in a row and keeps him in. He doesn't trust Baxa either. Baxa hit a 47 yarder earlier in that game. We were in position to let him try another 46 yarder or so, and Richt decides to go for it on 4th and 2 instead....and of course calls the same exact play that we got stuffed on the play before, and turns the ball over. Had he let Baxa attempt the kick, that 3 points could have made a very big difference in the game. I just can't figure out Richt's logic in his offense, his game plan, and who he relies on.

Im simply on the other side of that issue. Perry's fragile mindset should not be a major factor in the decision process. Everyone has to find their own confidence in sports. DB's get beat and need to cover that same guy the next series. WR's drop passes and are targeted again. O linemen whiff, etc... Perry needs to figure out how to learn to read defenses.

Again, I felt Richt made the correct move in pulling Perry. The kid looked LOST. The stubbornness of Mark Richt showed reared its ugly head when he tried to make Rosier act like Perry. I was screaming in the game chat to let Perry run the read option. Then I was screaming for Rosier to come in and run the read option. He played Rosier but never made those play calls until it was too late.
For the most part I'd agree. As athletes we find our own motivation. BUT qbs in general are prima donnas. It is a position more than any other in football that requires you to believe you are simply the best on the field or atleast the smartest. To pull him after the first sign of adversity you're really sending the wrong message to a kid trying to find his way and grow into the position. Fyi to be clear I agree he looked completely lost. No different from pope. Myself and many others have noted that is his m.o. though. How do you put him in that spot knowing his issue than bench him for showing his hand. Just like with malik he needs help to excell. For me neither of them should be the starter. But I'm just beating a dead tree now.

Question for you Liberty, If Rosier had started that game do you think we would have won that game? I don't think he's a good QB but he can beat bad teams as he showed last year and Vir is a bad team.

I don’t think we win with either.. These QBs are terrible. I would like to think we win if we don’t turn the ball over 2 times in the first 4 series but who the **** knows. Watched Rosier **** the bed so many times, it’s hard to believe he’s gives us a better chance than Perry. The most disappointing thing I took from this game is why Perry is not further along. He does not look good. There are plenty of young QBs that can play, unfortunately Perry is not one of them.

You’re right... it does seem as if Richt just flies by the seat of his pants, making decisions as they come. Hard to believe he won so many games at UGA this way.

The only other explanation is that he sees what we don’t in practice... and maybe that explains at least some of his decisions.

It is what it is. Perry wasn't really ready but Rosier isn't quite good enough. So everyone here wanted Perry to take the helm starting at the UNC game and Richt did that. Perry looked nervous in the first half of FSU. He was almost pulled at halftime of the FSU game. Once UVA got film on him it looked like a wrap. Richt had to make that move.

The big question we should be discussing is, who starts against Va Tech?

The issue is we don't have a QB currently ready enough to give Mark Richt confidence that they can run the offense and won't throw a costly interception. But we gotta ride w/ N'Kosi Perry... instead of Richt going w/ Malik or somebody who is less ready than Perry, he should spell him by calling more WildCat w/ DJ Dallas at QB.

ISSUE SOLVED. Somebody send Coach Richt the memo and tell him I got his back. :fistbump:

Anyone who thinks malik honestly makes us better is incompetent at best. The real question is how much better can nkosi make us. I see ALL kinds of question marks with his game as well but im not gonna start on that. Yes Virginia disguises their coverages well. However it's not a coverage issue or how you read it when EVERYTIME you see adversity you singularly look for harley or Wiggins depending on which side of the field you scramble too then force a throw regardless of coverage... I think nkosi has plenty of upside but I question how much of it he'll ever see with jon richt as the qb coach. Hes a moron and he has no clue how to coach up a kid so he'll be able to succeed. Thats the sole reason this job should clearly be either Cade or jarrens(really jarrens). They both have the coaching and the skill sets to succeed. Jarren is a far better passer though. I'm just curious of something. How many of yall honestly believe that if we see all these issues with staff n play calling etc. Do you think the players dont? You think it doesn't affect the kids who are sitting behind behind players they KNOW they are far better than. But your coach who told you how much he loved your game & it the best since sliced bread still refuses to play you & help his team... ONLY way nkosi will be able to flourish is if you reprogram how he sees the game & call you'r players dependent of that. He needs to be forced to look inside out. Get in a rhythm by using your tight ends & check downs. Once he finds his rhythm he can be very good. But these sporadic passes we call are simply hit or miss cause as a passer hes not advanced enough. To be clear this is the exact concern I had about mjj & why I didnt want him specifically. We need an advanced passer to vet around the incompetence of Jon richt. Otherwise were screwed.

So you're saying Jon Richt's not qualified to be a QB coach at Miami? Color me shocked.

*This is not an attack on you, Dee*
