Richt Staff Timeline

We are at the top of the market bubble.....thank you for making my point.

TOS is reporting that Richt is having a hard time getting Lilly to commit.

A rarely mentioned issue is real estate prices in and around Coral Gables. They are at all time highs. Cost of living off the charts at Miami compared to most small SEC towns.

It is going to be an issue. Richt is going to have to find coaches that really want to coach at Miami.

I'm sure the lack of a state tax can help offset that for as long as he is here. Plus have him look at Shockey. Dude bought a condo a few years back for 1.5M and is now selling it for 3.0M.

Dude it's property. It will always be going up. There will be times where the market is bad and it may go down for a while. So you then keep it and rent it out or something. Property is an investment. These coaches make good money.

go collect your trophy for being the dumbest poster on this board.

Staff in place by sun bowl? I'm surprised that nothing has been leaked yet.

Plus if you let current coaches know they are going to be let go they aren't gonna coach the bowl game like they should. They'd be distracted and interviewing, if not quitting.

Dude...you are wrong.

This real estate crash will be the worst.

I am very worried he's going to bring in Willie Martiniez, the guy he was forced to fire at UGA.

He is waiting till after the bowl games and possibly the NFL regular season. There is no reason for him to rush these decisions. It's the dead period in recruiting. Staff will be in place for the Last month push for recruits!

It's far better to sell at or near the top and then rent (if it's your primary domicile), buy at the bottom, rinse and repeat....

If it's not your primary domicile, sell and wait for opportunities...

I'd strongly recommend this strategy instead.....

This should not even factor into the equation. The bowl game is meaningless relative to choosing the right assistants for the future of the program. Not to mention, these guys are all coaching for their own future employment (whether it be here or elsewhere) so it would be career suicide to intentionally sand bag this game if they knew they were not being retained. As others have already speculated, the real reasons why he has not named a staff yet are likely:

1) College coaches receive bonuses for coaching in their respective bowl games (i.e., some assistants may have agreed verbally and he'll officially announce it after they coach in their bowl game so that they can get their bonus).
2) He might be waiting on someone from the NFL

I agree with those points. I wasn't saying they'd sandbag the game. But if he told them 2 weeks ago they won't be retained, they'd start interviewing and it might distract from their preparation. Don't announce any decision and guys are getting ready like they are coaching for the job.

Richt is all about loyalty and doing the right thing and not causing a stir publicly. I'm sure he's already got an agreement in place with the 3 or 4 guys from UGA that attended the senior party with him a few days ago and weren't recruiting with the other guys that Kirby Dumb retained.

He's probably narrowed his DC list too. I just hope to **** he doesn't waste the $1M+ hiring a bum like Grantham like he did at UGA a couple years ago or that loser OC Shyttenheimer like he did last year. This DC hire is going to be absolutely imperative if we're going to turn this program around.

From what I've read, Shottenheimer was forced on him by UGA's AD. Richt never wanted him.

Im having trouble buying the narrative that the AD was dictating so much football stuff to a successful long time HC. I've heard it a bunch on here, but I'm having trouble with accepting it. Doesn't really add up to me.

I've read on here that the AD basically pulled play calling duties from Richt several years ago despite Richt having about an 80%+ winning percentage at that point in his career.

I lived in Atlanta when Richt turned over play-calling to Bobo. At that time, Richt said Bobo had earned it, and UGA was having some issues on offense. The thought was that Richt would free himself to be a better coach by delegating the play calling. Not sure if he initiated that thought, or it was the AD.

As for the UGA OC hire he just made ... I thought it was terrible! Seemed like he was grabbing an NFL guy, just to have an NFL guy. The teams Schottenheimer coordinated were never very dynamic, IMO.

I have no clue how good Richt will be as a play-caller for Miami next season ...

Not sure if he will be as conservative as UGA has been in recent years, or if he will revert back to the guy he was at FSU???

But I'm hoping we get the modernized FSU version ...

I hope Mark is more about his word than loyalty. Keeping your word is one thing; betraying the trust of others for the sake of be loyal to a friend is the opposite. His DC hire will determine his success or failure here. Wrong guy and local recruits will continue to leave home. They want a guy who plays "their" type of football. I do too.
