Richt OC vs. Miami 1994

21 years ago?!?? I think it might be a lil different know

This. The original post is fantastic, and a great read in terms of some general X-O chalk-talk. But a 21-year-old game plan can't possibly have much relevance as to what offense we'll be running in 2016.

Great post, that's why I'm willing to fork out the big dough for this site.

I witnessed the loudest moment in OB history during that game, Carlos Jones pick 6

I was a Cane's ball boy at the time. I wanna say this was the game where I took a knee on the sidelines and purposely dragged FSU's football through the dirt with the laces down. (getting dirt all in between the laces) Shortly after that the FSU QB threw a pick. :chuncky:

Man that place was jumpin' that night.

What years were you a ball boy? I know someone who was a ball boy in the late 80s/early 90s.

This is absolutely fair, but for me, I can't just pick out his last game and expect that's how he is. I have to start at the beginning. I think the next one I'm going to look at will be either his last one at FSU, or the year before. It has to be a home game because I can't do that chant all game of FSU 's.

From there, I think it's useful to do a game or two at UGA. I think that allows one to see a clear evolution as well gain insight into principles that he has as a coach.

I'm aware that some will have no use for posts such as this, and I understand that. It's one of those things that I do to learn more and I know it won't please all people at all times. Many of us simply want to see the baby and don't care about the labor pains. I don't begrudge anyone for that:

Sorry but the response on the 3rd and 43 vs ND in 89 sounded louder

You're being way to reasonable. Knock it off.

A couple of things. He absolutely ran the same things his last home game as an OC against Florida. I watch that game on Youtube when he was first hire. I wanted to see him as a play caller. It's the game were Rex Grossman starts, but Jesse Palmer plays most of the game. At Georgia, he didn't run as many two back, shotgun formation stuff. I watched the Georgia/LSU game were he was a play caller, and he had David Green as his quarterback. Mostly under center, a lot of PA.

Interesting, but on FSU's 1st drive, and 2nd play of the 94' game, they run a ZR.
That prompted me to go back to the 93' game, and see if they ran ZR with Charlie Ward, and sure enough, they did.
I wonder how much Rich Rod influence those FSU offenses had in those days...

This is my favorite game that I ever attended.

The the Carlos Jones pick-6 was the loudest moment I've ever heard in a stadium. Complete bedlam, with the rows surging forward 2-3 rows in the student section.

Great write-up! I have nothing to add except this:

Three seasons. 1992-1993-1994

Was his name Phil?

I think worthy to note Richt was just a young pup as a play caller and game planner. '94 was only his first year as OC at FSU having been the qb coach for a few years, and only had 1 year of OC experience prior to that at ECU.

That tells me he is a quick understudy and student of the game.

That team was the real U. Ferocious Dline, blanket DB's, run stopping LB's.

Talk about a great called game from and offensive mind, one of Erickson's best not to mention the running of Stewart and Ferguson.
