Richt kills it in response to no on campus stadium

If you can't feel what's happening right now then you are just in a state of denial. I was a Butch guy but Richt's chess game is masterful to say the least. He just skipped all college comparisons and went straight to NFL Super Bowl venues. Do you understand the volumes that speaks to playmakers who want to succeed in the league?
Just look at the number of neutral site games and appreciate the idea that we are actually ahead of the curve.

I'm still a Butch guy but Mark handled that very well and when he beats noles this year, stadium will feel much better. Question for anyone, is the stadium going to be doomed with A/C or just a cover for shade?

I'm excited. Renovated Stadium. New and improved coaching. University President who actually cares about football. Indoor practice facility coming soon. Top flight recruits flipping to Miami. Get on the bandwagon now, it's going to get full soon.

This thread got me thinking. Name one college team that plays in a nicer stadium than Sun Life. I can't think of one but I'm sure there's a couple out there.

Here my problem with the stadium argument. Are people honestly staying that a South Florida recruit would have a problem going 40 minutes to play in an NFL stadium, but wouldn't have any problem with going 12 hours to play in an on campus stadium at Bama?

I don't think for a second that we are losing south florida recruits because we don't have our own stadium. We haven't won 10 games in over a decade.

Who cares who has the "nicest" stadium? Kids rather play in stadiums such as the Swamp, Doak, Blacksburgh, etc. Couched seats in college football isn't helping our cause either.

So you honestly think a kid is saying "man I'm not going to Miami they have those couch seats in the stadium"? Com'on?!?!
Again, if attendance mattered that much then Michigan and Tennessee would go undefeated every year.

As mentioned win some games, and a big game to boot and see what happens.

I'm not saying kids wouldn't come to Miami because of couch seats; however, it has been stated many times with recruits that they love the game day experience in most of these school's they visit. No one is saying that about SLS. The stadium will continue to be a barrier for this program until we have our own intimate venue.

Obviously you never experienced a game in those stadiums. It ***** on the atmohsphere at SLS. I see it as a 32 year old, I can only imagine what a 17 year see's it as.

Good for Richt and ultimately I agree that winning cures everything, but a canopy is not going to stop guys like Jimbo and Saban from using the "gameday atmosphere" line to negative recruit against us.

"Gameday atmosphere" in Miami is directly correlated to the product on the field. Win, and Sun Life will rock like harder than any other stadium. Lose, and it'll be a mausoleum just like the OB was when UM was losing. The OB was an ugly empty trash heap when we stunk. Win games, and UM will be playing in a state of the art facility that is loud and blows away the facilities of most of our opponents.

This on campus stadium **** is nonsense anyway. We got 3,000 kids on campus. The vast majority of UM fans would find it nearly impossible to make the ride to an on campus stadium given the setup of the campus and the insane traffic on US1.

You gotta work with what you got, and Sun Life is going to be a masterpiece. Win games, and that "negative" will be a sudden positive.

I've been a stadium hater but these improvements are significant.

If we win, it will be a unique and hostile atmosphere. Think Seattle or a big-time soccer stadium.

Masterfully handled by CMR.

I think with the renovations, he's right, too. Not just blowing smoke.

Think about it. The knock on Sun Life has always been the distance from the seats to the field, the lack of noise, and the heat. These renovations addressed each of those issues head on. Only negative now is the distance from campus, which really only affects students, who enjoy the drunk bus anyway.

Go Canes.

Hey young buck I've been the Swamp, Doak, and Lane stadium. I've also went to every game in the OB from 83 to 95. I've never seen a stadium rock like the OB. Everybody stomp their feet on that metal stadium and you would swear it was going to fall down. The noise in the west end was loudest I've ever heard. Countless timeouts by opponents as a result. I know Sun Life isn't the OB. However, during those years had a lot of #1 vs #2 matches. The canes were always number 2 and always won. If the program can get back to where it once was then I'm 100% sure you will see sold out games and an atmosphere like no other. Bet

Here is what is so silly about him mentioning time to stadium- most fans that attend games of 98% of all colleges travel 50+ miles to get to the stadium. They aren't locals! When recruits visit and that Some Beiche filled, they ain't gonna care that it's not sitting in Coral Gables! They will look around and think this stadium sweet! All we have to do is win and play very competitive and it's a rap!

Exactly! People in Miami complain about having to drive to SunLife. At most schools, alum drive hours to go to games. Does anybody think all the UF alumni live in Gainseville? **** no. They drive from Miami, Tampa, Orlando for games.

or they fly maybe, or train or greyhound

It dosent matter to me what the stadium is like, I try and go to as many games as i can. 2 or 3 a year

Couldn't agree more. The atmosphere is a direct result of the program winning meaningful games. The atmosphere in the Orange Bowl the last few years was hot garbage. It's not the stadium, it's the team and the fans.
