Richt fast break offense

I think there were more than a few things that were forced on him at UGA, which is why, after initially not really liking the idea of the hire, I'm optimistic. He'll have free reign at Miami to do it the way he wants.

I mentioned in another thread yesterday that I'm hoping the hiring of his former FSU player as pass game coordinator foreshadows the installation of the fast break and a departure from the "football in a phone booth" he deployed at UGA. I really think we could destroy **** with a version of that fast break.

That's interesting. An AD telling a HC what type of O or D to run. Personally I don't like up tempo much but we have won NCs with a couple type of offenses so I am fine with Mark running it here. My only concern is impact on defense it is not working well -- defense get burnt out. There is a "Miami" defense and that is what is important to return to. Mark can play games with offense but defense must return to our type and style. Our old defense might not be as adversely effected my exhaustion, given its own speed and aggression focus on negative plays.

FSU was a cot dam terror when he was at FSU. One had to do with our scholarship limitations so they had an open door to South Florida players, the other part was Richt developing his QB's at his pace. He had a plan and timetable for every player on offense, especially QB's. Kaaya will improve dramatically under Richt.

I would love to see Richt go to an uptempo offense. I remember Fisch used to run it at times when he was here and we seemed to move the ball well whenever he did. Then we would abandon it for some reason (I'm guessing Golden limited it because when we scored quickly, his ****** defense had to be on the field more).

Can't be up tempo all the time. Nice to mix it in though. I like the use of WRs and spread principles that Richt employed at FSU more than the tempo. Would be perfect for our recruiting base.

For the first time in a long time I'm very excited about the direction of our offense. This system should allow Kaaya to put up some big numbers.

He had more than one AD at UGA and Mike Bobo wasn't a bad play caller.

You're aware that the 2001 Miami Hurricanes were scoring TD's in like 90 seconds right?

I'm just excited that we won't be seeing many (if any) more wide receiver screens to Coley for short yardage and an injury. It's the little things that irked me about Coach Coley's offense.

I want a quick strike offense that isn't afraid to step on an opponents throat. I don't want anymore slow down just to protect the defense.

Well, the AD certainly got his way. Only Army ran fewer plays per game than Georgia did this year.
That's awful. I question this whole "AD as ogre" narrative at UGA because I don't think the new AD's hiring necessarily lines up with Richt giving up play calling and UGA going to that "football in a phone booth" grinding slow-paced offense.

Maybe Richt was one of the many who saw what Saban was doing and thought he could win championships with that model by "out-Bama'ing" Bama.

That clinic tape gets me excited. He's a much different guy when teaching than when he's giving press conference. :D

I guess lining up and bashing your head against a Bama brick wall is more their brand.

Ah...yeah, have fun with that...
